Oracle Oracle Database Developer - REMOTE in Albany, New York

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

As a Oracle Database Developer your contributions will be instrumental in migrating OPERA Property Management System, from premise to the next generation of OPERA Cloud Property Management System. You would also help design, develop, troubleshoot and debug various aspects of both of these PMS applications.

OPERA is full service suite offering a wide range of features, integration options, reports and accounting systems that allow hotels to seamlessly interact with a variety of external systems and deliver the highest quality guest experience quickly and easily.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging and designing software applications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest incremental and architectural improvements.


  • Help with critical legacy OPERA V5 premise Oracle DB migration to hosted OPERA Cloud.

  • Quickly analyze critical migration issues, review application code to identify potential changes that are causing the issue. Make recommendations on the potential fix.

  • Write complex pl/sql data correction scripts that can mitigate reported issue while proper fix is being developed.

  • Willingness to constantly acquire and share technical skills and knowledge with colleagues and new hires.

  • Interact frequently with Support, Customers and Engineers.

  • After identifying and mitigating the issue provide detailed root cause analysis and recommendation to respective Agile POD developers.

Experience:* * BS in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or equivalent. 3 years of experience with Oracle DB and pl/sql development.

Recommended Skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills with 3 years of Oracle DB PL/SQL experience.

  • Functional knowledge of OPERA PMS is an added bonus.

  • Good understanding of SOAP and REST Web Services.

  • Experience with UI development is added plus. Especially Oracle Forms, Java or JavaScript frameworks (ADF, OJET, etc.).
