Position Description

What does a great Digital Marketing Automation Manager do?

You will tackle tasks that require technical, creative, quantitative and interpersonal skills and know-how. You are a creative thinker and business-minded team player that can collaborate, lead a team and partner with cross-functional organizations (internal, vendors and clients). You possess the technical expertise and business acumen to work collaboratively across our multi-disciplinary consumer and business-to-business marketing organization. You are an experienced hybrid email and digital marketing expert that uses data and technology to design, develop and execute email and digital marketing campaigns. A subject matter expert in email marketing automation platforms – they understand the technical aspects of how to program and launch data-driven email marketing campaigns using IBM Watson. They must also have excellent communication and collaboration skills as they will partner with our consulting team to work directly with clients on select key strategic initiatives. They thrive on innovation and push the limits of what the latest technology and latest marketing communications tools and techniques will drive consumers and clients to action.

You are a technical leader that manages a team responsible for partnering with other internal client-focused teams (e.g., Client Marketing Consultants, Consumer Adoption Marketing Managers, and Distributed Marketing Platform team) to bring our client’s marketing campaigns to life through the innovative use of email and digital marketing. You will administer existing and develop new innovative marketing campaigns and manage all aspects of our marketing automation tools and vendor relationships. You have a keen focus on leveraging data and insights to drive results through highly successful campaigns and the vision to create a long-term digital marketing strategy and infrastructure designed for growth. You will partner with our platform automation developers to maximize the insights and seamless flow of machine-to-machine data to drive efficiencies in our marketing communications programs.

Essential Job Responsibilities :

Digital Marketing

  • Uses professional experience, education and industry networks to continue to maintain and expand subject matter expertise across the entire digital marketing spectrum to design and execute campaigns – especially Digital platforms (e.g., social media, Google, YouTube), Digital media (paid, owned and earned), and Digital technology (web, mobile apps, email).

  • Displays a firm understanding of using digital media to persuade consumers (B2C) and businesses and financial institutions (B2B) to respond (e.g., increase product adoption or participate in marketing programs) through various digital means

  • Possesses the knowledge required to measure, increase and maintain usage and adoption of Fiserv digital banking products and solutions

  • Shows keen understanding of social media and how it can be used to reach consumers.

Marketing Automation

  • Lead technical expert for our chosen email marketing platform, IBM Watson (formerly Silverpop)

  • Expert at developing/coding and launching email marketing campaigns

  • Develop an understanding of our organization's technical infrastructure, including its email system configuration and platform capabilities to support machine-to-machine.

  • Fluent in understanding and implementing email marketing design and data management regulations and ensures Fiserv and our clients adhere to the relevant standards (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and ADA)

  • Subject matter expert in email marketing best-practices and trends

  • Partner with other client engagement team members to develop new and improve existing automated marketing campaigns

  • Support database management to organize files, write queries and develop reports

Team and Vendor Management

  • Manage team of digital and email marketers to launch campaigns and drive results

  • Coach and develop team to help enhance their skills and professional growth and development

  • Partner with vendors to deliver, maximize, optimize and grow our marketing campaign delivery (email, social media, web, etc.)

  • Manage vendor relationships from an administrative and technical perspective including contract negotiations and renewals

Innovation

  • Stay abreast of trends in digital marketing, marketing automation, design and technology to ensure the team’s automation and creative solutions are relevant and reflective of a global technology leader

  • Knowledgeable about how the organizations work; knows how to get things done through formal channels and the informal network. Understands the culture of organizations

Basic Qualifications for Consideration :

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 10+ years of experience in a Marketing role

  • Relevant knowledge and skills include email marketing platforms like IBM Watson (formerly Silverpop), HTML, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Excel Word and OneNote).

  • A strong knowledge of current digital platforms, front-end web design, social media platforms and email template creation/troubleshooting

  • Prior experience working with email Service Providers (specifically IBM Marketing Cloud (formerly Silverpop) platform and tools).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of HTML code, including email coding best practices and troubleshooting.

  • Strong attention to detail to understand our organization's technical infrastructure, including its email system configuration and platform capabilities

  • Knowledge of email and digital design best practices, success metrics, CAN-SPAM and GDPR legislation and ADA (American Disabilities Act) requirements.

  • Working knowledge of basic web technologies (JavaScript, Flash, SQL, APIs, web platforms and browsers, etc.). Enough to support a dialogue of client support.

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Experience in banking, financial services, marketing, and/or software industries desired

  • Experience with distributed marketing and marketing automation platforms and tools, not required

Leadership, Communication and Collaboration:

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) with direct reports, manager, team leadership, project managers, and internal teams

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills to help manage team priorities in a deadline driven environment

  • Attention to detail and a focus on quality is a must

  • Strong work ethic and pride in delivering superior results

  • Must be able to work as part of a team to arrive at best creative solution and build consensus across their group

  • Organizational skills Ability to prioritize assignments, and work successfully

Accountability & Commitment:

  • True first level manager. Ensures that project/team milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Typically requires 5 years of experience in the related area as an individual contributor and 1 to 3 years supervisory experience. Ability to achieve project outcomes and stakeholder satisfaction

  • Ability to identify project obstacles and proactively mitigate risks. Escalates and resolves complex issues effectively

Learning Agility:

  • Ability to quickly grasps complex concepts and conveys concepts in a way that is easily understood by others

  • Ability to incorporate feedback and adjust plans or approach

Travel required : 20%

Who We Are:

This position resides within the Billing and Payments Group with a primary emphasis on the electronic payments division to support our client partnerships for the Integrated Payment Strategy.
