Caterpillar has exciting opportunities for Production Team Leads who want to be challenged and are interested in progressing with the company. In this role you will be the first point of contact for the respective team members and will support the Section Manager and Group Manager by identifying failures and process improvement opportunities. You will work with a team of semi-skilled and skilled employees and will develop your communication and decision making skills as well as demonstrate high levels of initiative. You will interact with hourly and salaried employees at your facility to provide essential manufacturing support for the operations activity and will receive guidance from your Section Manager. Many opportunities exist for those Production Team Leads who are keen to progress within the organization.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain daily communications with Section Manager and other Team Leads as required

  • Reinforce team development to include training

  • Assist the team in problem solving

  • Perform Scouting and Routing processes

  • Organize team resources to meet build schedules

  • Ensure quality expectations are met

  • Act as the key communicator with engineering / office support for changes and updates

  • Support the 'Stop to Fix' Process

  • Support Health and Safety Investigations

  • Identify, document and communicate process and workmanship deficiencies on all products

  • Raise Continuous Improvement ideas/cards for repeating quality issues

  • Assist with updating Standard Work, performing Standard Work audits and ensuring compliance

  • Assist in the development of processes

  • Work with Engineers to resolve issues

  • Compliance with safety and quality standards

  • Compliance with 5S program and other business improvement initiatives

  • Display behavior and conduct fitting with our Values in Action

  • Recognize team members when appropriate

  • Any other appropriate duties

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires 2-4 years of experience or the equivalent in on-the-job training.

  • The ability to follow and comprehend verbal, specific and detailed procedures and work instructions

  • Requires ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematic drawings

  • Physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the job

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Previous experience working in a lean environment

  • Previous experience as a Team Leader

  • Ability to prioritize and organize

  • Strong customer focus

  • Attention to detail to meet quality standards

  • Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with engineers, quality and supply chain

  • Motivated, self-starter
