The primary role for the Channel Product Manager, U.S. Institutions & Canada (Americas) is to manage various product-related business activities in support of the Americas distribution channel. Product-related business activities include a wide range of product strategy, product development, and product management activities.

  • Product strategy includes working directly with Americas leaders to identify market and channel demand drivers and trends, current and future client needs and developing the Americas product strategy roadmap, while collaborating directly with Global Product partners to align with the broader Global Product priorities.

  • Product development involves research, development and implementation of new products ensuring they are designed to meet Americas clients’ needs including but not limited to investment design parameters, naming, pricing, appropriateness of product wrappers and ensuring these are effectively implemented.

  • Product management activities include ongoing research and review of the existing product suite, to ensure it is “fit for purpose” and to identify potential product enhancements to existing products sold in Americas.

The Channel Product Manager, Americas, will be a single point of accountability for Americas with Global Product and will need to be an advocate for Americas within Global Product and vice-versa. This role works in a strategic capacity with senior management in Americas, as well as with key partners in Global Product. This position also emphasizes project management skills to enable effective communication of critical milestones occurring with various product initiatives. The Channel Product Manager, Americas, will help to inform the Americas Product Governance meeting agendas.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads product development/enhancement for a broad range of the most complex strategies, vehicles and/or market segments. Has expert investment and market knowledge and understanding of operational and regulatory constraints to integrate the demands of various regions and client types and stay ahead of competitors. Synchronizes the prioritization of product strategy, development, management, and positioning efforts across product, investments, distribution, operations, technology, risk, compliance, legal, and other departments.

  • Strategizes with stakeholders to craft comprehensive business cases for new and existing firm offerings in the marketplace. Interacts directly with key leaders across the business and external customers to develop, enhance, and market business unit offerings. Leverages an in-depth, specialized understanding of all products, the marketplace, and client needs to drive product growth/development and maximize profitability. Seen as a firm expert on the development and management of multiple products. Implements product enhancements to leverage market growth opportunities and negate gaps in business unit offerings.

  • Creates product management road maps and establishes evaluation criteria and success metrics. Advocates on pricing, promotion, distribution decisions, and competitive differentiators. Leads the articulation of product positioning across all market segments for complex products and across the product suite. Leverages cutting-edge investment research trends and analyses, including academic findings, to influence product development activities. Distills and communicates relevant findings with peers, key stakeholders, and relevant staff.

  • Where applicable, works with various internal groups (portfolio specialist, sales, and marketing teams) to develop and execute against a strategic marketing plan to ensure alignment with overall product strategy.

  • Mentors and guides junior and senior product managers and directs and works with other product functions during product development and implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND -10+ years of total relevant work experience

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Institutions & Canada channel and segments

  • Strong communication skills, demonstrating the ability to deal with people at all levels of the organization

  • Investment product knowledge

  • Strong understanding of product vehicles

  • Strong professional experience working in cross functional capacities

  • Project management experience, especially managing and/or communicating status of initiatives to cross-functional stakeholders

  • Ability to influence, have gravitas with senior leaders in distribution

  • Deep understanding of product development and management processes and practices together with a sound knowledge of operational and regulatory frameworks and how they relate to “best practice” product governance

  • Professional curiosity to identify and drive new ideas of opportunity and an ability to pursue problem resolutions

Preferred

  • MBA or advanced degree

  • CFA, CAIA or working toward it

  • Financial Services experience

  • Experience working with distribution professionals

  • Process orientation
