Lockheed Martin Composites Technician in Baltimore, Maryland

Description: This occupation requires the hand layup and fabrication of uncured fiberglass, and graphite pre-impregnated Epoxy and phenolic, and fabrics into complex structures. Fabrication of laminates requires the use of various hand tools, and computer knowledge in electronic work instructions, in preparation for curing in autoclave curing systems and composite ovens, and structural adhesive bonding.

Prepare molds or forms for build-up of resin-impregnated fibrous materials and substrates by cleaning and applying parting agents according to instructions and established procedures. Mark and cut tape, woven material, honeycomb, adhesive, and similar materials following templates, guides, or specified dimensions and operation sequences on shop orders, detail part blueprints, operational instruction bulletins, manufacturing process specifications or other similar authorized documents.

Apply layers of resin-impregnated fibrous materials or substrates to molds; fit and smooth successive layers of material to secure build-up free from wrinkles, air pockets and voids following directions and instructions. Place and seal pressure bag, and install thermocouples preparatory to curing; separate cured parts from molds, substrates and bagging materials; utilize hoists for transporting and positioning of parts and tooling as required.

Basic Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.

- Experience in Bonding, Composite Manufacturing or related Manufacturing field preferred but not required

- Computer skills required - Excel, PowerPoint, Word

- highly motivated, self-starting individual.

Desired Skills:

- Some experience in Composite manufacturing or certification in the composite field a plus

- Ability to work independently and unsupervised for extended periods of time in a controlled environment.

- Autoclave experience

- Ability to lift 50 lbs

- Ability to climb stairs and navigate tight spaces

- No aversion to tight spaces
