BAE Systems Oracle DBA in Bluemont, Virginia
BAE has recently been awarded an Operations and Maintenance Infrastructure contract with our Federal Customer and we are seeking an Oracle DBA. The Operations and Management (O&M) contract focuses on providing customer with Program Management, Mobility Service Center (MSC) and Systems, Databases, and Application Management; IT Operations and Maintenance including system sustainment, modernizing its infrastructure, and controlling and managing the lifecycle of all changes with minimum disruption to end users; Telecommunications O&M including unified communications, mobile device management, and satellite communications; Help Desk Services providing 24x7x365 end user support; and Network Operations Services 24x7 monitoring voice, video, data, and satellite feeds.
Ideal incumbent possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments which are broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Has the ability to apply a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments
Job Responsibilities Include:
Provides all activities related to the administration of computerized databases.
Communicates with management, technicians, and end-users to evaluate need prior to development of an automated solution.
Prepares detailed reports which might include system requirements such as concurrent usage factors, data storage requirements, response rates, and discuss procedures for processing data through the use of data base management systems (DBMS) including relational data bases.
Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function.
Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment.
Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
Advises users on access to various client/server databases.
Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end (e.g., COGNOS)/back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL).
Performs database programming and supports systems design.
Maintains database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.
Evaluates data base design tradeoffs, impacts on user expectations, performance levels, and space allocation requirements.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Bachelors degree with 2 years direct Oracle DBA experience and/or 5 combined years of relevant experience
A combination of education or experience with at least one professional certification may be substituted for education requirement.
Preferred Skills and Education
Desired Certifications : Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Certified Master, Oracle Certified Expert, Oracle Database Administrator, Oracle Fusion Middleware Developer, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator
