Hartford’s Personal Lines business provides automobile, homeowners and personal

umbrella coverages to individuals across the United States. The business includes The AARP® Automobile

and Homeowners Insurance Program serving more than 37 million members.

The

Personal Lines Assistant Director Product Management has profit and loss

responsibility for our auto and homeowner’s insurance products for a state or

states within an assigned geography.

Their ideas, insights, and ability to execute a strategic vision and

foster change directly impacts our business and our shareholders. In addition to developing and executing a strategic

vision that enable long-term success, the AD, Product Manager is intimately

involved in setting prices, designing product features, and articulating the

type of business that the company should target for profitable growth in their

assigned states. By applying their

critical thinking skills, communication abilities, and creativity to

challenges, the AD, Product Manager has accountability for one or more states

within a defined region for a Fortune 500 company.

This

position reports into AVP, Region Product Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountable for achieving / exceeding revenue and income targets for assigned

states

Develop strategic vision and tactical plan that will profitably expand market

share within assigned states

Address the day-to-day needs of numerous functional area partners who are

supporting assigned states

Remain grounded in state-specific data so that shifts in competitiveness and

profitability are well anticipated

Work directly with organizational teammates when developing, customizing, and

launching new products

Partner with resources necessary to maintain state compliance, quality and competitiveness regarding policy forms and coverage

Effectively utilizes a network of reliable, efficient working relationships

with other departments including countrywide product, pricing, agency sales. Data

analytics, underwriting, claims, service, marketing communications and other

areas that support the business to monitor market dynamics, understand our

customers better, and lead efforts to make changes to business offerings and

processes

Develops credibility in unfamiliar environments; including agency partners,

affinity prospects, regulators, senior leaders, and cross functional project

teams.

Cultivates an active network of external relationships in order to meet

business and strategic goals.

Develop & sustain productive relationships with state regulators.

Qualifications:

The

Hartford is seeking a highly-qualified individual who possesses a minimum of 7

years of experience in Personal Lines or Commercial Lines Product (Management or Development), Pricing

and/or Underwriting in a comparable role is required, as well as:

A bachelor’s degree preferably in a discipline requiring critical thinking and

analytical skills.

Analytical & problem-solving skills, including the ability to encourage new

ways of looking at problems, processes and solutions.

Comfort level with presentation and marketing skills; interpersonal and

relationship management skills with an emphasis on customer focus,

collaboration and partnering to obtain results.

Able to effectively and with minimal supervision conduct competitor analysis

& gain an in depth understanding of market dynamics including competitor underwriting initiatives, rate level analysis, forms analysis as well as economic trends

& emerging issues in the market.

Knowledge of state laws in order to make decisions regarding key issues &

to identify opportunities to affect legislative change.

successful risk pricing strategies.

of product and pricing; able to understand financial ramifications.

Travel commitment of up to 10% of time for market-related travel.
