MetLife Customer Marketing Director, National Accounts in Bridgewater, New Jersey

Department:

The organization is responsible for all Marketing for the Group, Voluntary, and Worksite Benefits business, across all three Markets Segments. This includes working with the Product Center of Excellence, Distribution Leaders, Market Heads, Product/Pricing heads, Brokers and Employers to develop effective employee value propositions and strategies for each product, growth initiative and market segment.

This organization will create strategies to drive profitable revenue growth by achieving participation and retention rates outlined in the business plan. Considerations must include economics of approaches, competitive environment, and employer perspectives on enrollment. The organization will also partner with corporate marketing and centers of excellence regarding competitive landscape and identify key emerging trends along with the demographic and behavioral attributes that defines the GB employer, broker and consumer segments.

Role Value Proposition:

The successful candidate will partner closely with the National Account (NA) leadership to understand the needs and asks of the National Account team and be able to translate to drive solutions and measurable impact for the business. The Marketing Director will frame the business challenge and define success factors to create strategic marketing plans that will contribute to the long term growth of the National Account team. Drawing on the marketing expertise of both US Regional and Global Marketing Teams to help guide a differentiating and competitive position for MetLife.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Operational Business Experience – the incumbent will need to have or quickly develop a keen understanding of the National Accounts business strategies, models and key offerings and be able to contribute valuable customer insights, competitor intelligence and pragmatic marketing solutions. He/she will do this by:

  • Demonstrating a clear passion for the category and technology and a willingness to immerse him/herself fully in the details of the National Account strategies and objectives

  • Quickly gain a deep understanding of MetLife’s target customers, their wants and needs and how the company can deliver against these versus its competitors

  • Co-creating operationally-focused marketing solutions with keen focus on tackling key business challenges and meeting business objectives

  • Exceptional Collaboration and Influencing Skills – the incumbent will work closely with various business unit leaders and their teams, strategists and marketers, and numerous peers in Marketing to define, deliver and execute the brand strategy. He / she will do this in many cases via virtual teams in a highly-matrixed environment. He / she will succeed by:

  • Investing heavily to build strong working relationships with numerous people at all levels of the organization

  • Establishing strong credibility by demonstrating deep subject-matter and disciplinary competency

  • Ability to offer well-structured, well-supported and clearly articulated points-of-view while met with skepticism, disbelief and/or opposition

  • Supports the development of value propositions that differentiate MetLife in the market

  • Identifies opportunities through research and analysis of relevant market trends, customer segmentation, competitive activity and the needs and behaviors of employers and brokers.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 10+ years of diverse and progressively senior marketing experience – an accomplished Marketer that has a breadth of marketing experience, as well as relevant expertise in strategic brand building or Customer Marketing

  • Ability to advise on B2B channel with an influence on B2B2C, with a customer mindset focusing on insights and applying insights-led research

  • Highly analytical with significant experience leading data-based decision making and distilling large amounts of data into clearly concise stories

  • Demonstrated experienced navigating, influencing and leading within a highly matrixed environment

  • 5+ years of management/leadership experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred and MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
