We are searching for a Technologist to support all aspects of the day to day operation for donor screening and transplant testing. Primary initial responsibilities will be in routine HLA donor screening, processing sample volumes within the PacBio testing platform. Once more experience is obtained and competency completed, this person will continue to cross-train for multiple high complexity test procedures involving HLA clinical and transplant testing which may include result review as well.
The HLA lab supports multiple methodologies which vary with SOP for several assays. All technical positions are expected to contribute to QA documentation, troubleshooting, verification of parallel testing, integration of new methodologies from R & D Team and routine resulting. Upon gaining experience, technical staff will perform multiple tasks including the highest complexity procedures. This position will potentially include review and release of clinical test and transplant lab results. Review and release of HLA results is a key skill set that comes with lengthy training and experience as HLA typing is a very complex assay requiring our best and brightest to achieve this level of proficiency.
Techs will be responsible for HLA Class I/ Class II sample prep via various extraction methods, amplification, spotting , probing, data entry, Primary SBT, reading electropherograms, and Next Gen sequencing. These tests determine HLA typing for donor/ recipients for bone marrow transplantation and disease association.
The work schedule for this position will be Thursday-Sunday from 8:00am-6:30pm
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science
Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required for Technologist level
Previous experience is not required at the Technologist Trainee level
ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
Insert any specific state license if applicable
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
