MetLife Senior Infrastructure Project Manager in Cary, North Carolina

As a Senior Infrastructure Project Manager, you will independently lead key global project/programs for large scale Infrastructure, Engineering and Service Operations initiatives. Use your technology skills and business acumen to manage complex projects and programs, involving coordination of resources (people, funding, and technology) across the larger technology organization. As a leader, you will be responsible for identification of program/project plans, interdependencies, scope and deliverables, as well as resolving collision concerns across departments and the enterprise. As we transform the way we work, you will learn and apply Agile skills to lead MetLife Infrastructure initiatives in a Scrum Master or RTE role. Candidates must possess strong IT and Project/Program Management skills; PMP and/or PgMP and/or CSM/SAFe certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads and executes Infrastructure projects typically medium to large in scope, duration, and complexity.

  • Manages multiple initiatives simultaneously and creates status reporting for teams and executives.

  • Leads project reviews, status meetings, and ceremonies and develops and manages project plans and deliverables.

  • Resolves open issues and removes team impediments. Identifies, manages and mitigates risk and issues

  • Responsible for managing project financials and providing input into monthly portfolio financial reports.

  • For Agile projects, serves as Scrum Master and other Agile leadership roles (e.g., RTE, Agile Coach, etc.).

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge and/or experience with infrastructure technologies and Software Development Life Cycle for large initiatives (i.e.: Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, etc.)

  • Lean Agile mindset; able to identify and focus on outcomes that provide value to MetLife. Servant leader

  • Experienced managing matrixed teams, internal as well as global offshore teams and/or 3rd party vendors

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-resolution skills as well as risk management at the team and program level

  • Strong executive presentation and entrepreneurial skills. Employs judgement, relationship management, customer orientation, learning agility, emotional intelligence, business acumen


  • PMP (or other PMI Certifications)

  • 8+ years IT relevant experience, especially for infrastructure project/programs

  • 4-6+ years in a project or program management role

  • Deep knowledge Program/Project Financial Management/Budgeting

  • Experience managing dependencies

  • Proficient with office automation tools (MS Office suite of applications, email, Teams, etc.)


  • CSM, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or other Agile certifications

  • Continuous Learning mindset

  • Experience working on an agile team

  • Desire to be part of MetLife’s Agile transformation

  • Experience using data and metrics to communicate team performance

  • Commitment to relentless improvement

  • Working knowledge of Clarity, Jira, Azure DevOps

  • Bachelor’s: Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or Information Systems

  • Proficient with Traditional SDLC and scaled Agile methodologie
