Job Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Human Resources Consultant to join our team of HR professionals helping to refine and execute our Talent & Retention Strategy for the Building Construction Products Division. You will be responsible for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) strategic initiatives, divisional headcount management as well as focusing on the overall Caterpillar experience of our employees. This role will partner with the HR team to deliver on a positive employee relations strategy and creating a culture positioning BCP as an employer of choice.

Job duties Include but not limited to:

  • Partner with the Human Resources Manager to design and develop the key human resources practices to support the business strategy and ensure human resources is an integral part of the business strategy.

  • Lead in the execution of human resource practices by building leader and employee capability in human resources policies and procedures through training, knowledge sharing, coaching, and direction. Align divisional policies and procedures with corporate directives.

  • Drive continuous improvement to HR processes through research/benchmarking of internal and external best practices for Talent Development, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for the betterment of the employee experience.

  • Divisional headcount management. Support Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) efforts and organizational design within the division. Lead realignment efforts as necessary.

  • Oversee divisional recognition efforts and programs.

  • Develops learning strategy and align / partner with community initiatives such as apprenticeships, learnerships and scholarships.

  • Facilitate mentoring efforts within division in line with pipeline development requirements.

  • Facilitates delivery of training and development activities, such as divisional new hire orientations, onboarding activities, employee and leaders’ workshop on specific topics for the Division and coaching.

  • Coordinate, analyze and deliver data-driven insights and HR processes that enable and guide informed talent management decisions. Transform data into information and conclusions that guide and influence talent management decisions for a sustainable competitive talent advantage while maintaining consistency with Caterpillar Values in Action and Corporate HR policies and practices. Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Human resources related field is preferred)

  • 5+ Years HR related experience

  • A proven track record of creating vison/strategy and translating into operational execution in Human Resource/Talent roles

  • The position requires a thorough working knowledge and application of analytical tools as well as data management

Top Candidates will also have

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, and coach or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions

  • Needs to consider both traditional and non-traditional approaches to human resource management

  • Strong human relations and communications skills

  • Strong project and process management skills

  • Able to analyze data quickly and thoroughly provide sound business recommendations based on data

Additional Information

  • The preferred location for this position is Cary, NC however will be flexible within reasonable driving distance.

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

  • Limited Travel 5-15% of working time.
