Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with analysis focus. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Chelmsford designs and manufactures RF and microwave components and systems for use in missile applications and other harsh military environments. We incorporate the use of modern design tools in the relevant design disciplines of RF/microwave, analog/digital, and mechanical/thermal engineering. Also on premises are state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing facilities, and ESS test capabilities.

The effort involves complex technical problems that require solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. The assignment includes the design, analysis, research, development, and testing encompassing multiple engineering disciplines; as well as including the planning and advancement of new aerospace products and technologies.

The ideal candidate for this position should be very knowledgeable in finite analysis techniques as they apply to electronics packaging designs, this should include thermal and structural analysis for microwave electronics, components, and sub-systems. Candidate should also be familiar with shock and vibration concepts for design, testing and analysis as related to electronics for harsh military environments. This will include analyzing specific products and fixtures for structural and thermal capabilities as well as other inherent features that may impact performance during launch and flight conditions

Day to day activities will also include but will not be limited to creating designs using current electronics packaging concepts. Preparing, scheduling, and performing mechanical design verification and qualification testing of these systems as well as submitting formal reports and recommendations.

The Locale: Chelmsford is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of that city. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire’s White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Chelmsford and the region share an impressive past from the early days after the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to the revolutionary war. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north.

Basic Qualifications:

BS or MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field.

Thermal, structural and dynamics experience in the aerospace industry.

Strength in FEA analysis for thermal, structural, and dynamic environments

Expertise with 3D CAD solid modeling software

Ability to analyze and design products and associated fixtures for severe shock and vibration environments

Experience with electronics packaging analysis and techniques

Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating analysis plans and reports, documentation and proposals are necessary.

Candidate must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance and must be able to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance prior to start.

Desired Skills:

Design of shock and vibration isolation system design

Specific experience with ANSYS Workbench and APDL Classic

Knowledge in other FEA software packages (Siemens NX, Nastran, ANSA/BETA, Hypermesh)

Experience with performing structural analyses such as static, modal frequency, random vibration, and shock.

Experience with thermal analysis of circuit board boards and electronic components.

Ability to assess failure/damage criteria and margins for structural and thermal analyses.

Specific experience with PTC CREO solid modeling software

Hands on experience with shock and vibration testing

Experience with microwave electronics
