What You'll get to Do:

Northrop Grumman is seeking an engineer with significant experience in satellite Navigation systems for advanced navigation technology development, with a particular emphasis on wave form knowledge of precision GPS navigation for high-integrity applications.

This individual will be responsible for efforts to specify, design, analyze and test precision GPS navigation and relative navigation systems with demanding RNP (accuracy, availability, continuity, and integrity) requirements. This position requires extensive GPS system domain knowledge from both a theoretical and practical perspective; including demonstrated experience with Real Time Kinematic (RTK) methods and algorithms, GPS error sources and mitigation applications, and methods of GPS availability modeling and characterization.

The successful candidate will join the Electronic Fires Process team, a team of skilled researchers and engineers dedicated to advancing the state of the art in navigation, and must possess motivation and energy to develop new technical approaches to navigation challenges and see them through to realization.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • For a Principal RF/Software Engineer: 5 Years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related STEM degree field or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree

  • For a Sr. Principal RF/Software Engineer: 9 Years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related STEM degree field or 13 years of experience in lieu of a degree

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher

-GPS wave form knowledge from both a theoretical and practical perspective; including demonstrated experience with Real Time Kinematic (RTK) methods and algorithms, GPS error sources and mitigation applications, and methods of GPS availability modeling and characterization.

-Demonstrable track record of innovation in R&D related to GPS navigation.

-Detailed knowledge of C, C+ and C++ is required.

-Knowledge of mathematical methods relating to navigation, GPS signal processing, Kalman filtering, and availability modeling are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Software Defined Radios and RF signal generation

-Software Development and/or Software Engineering background with an Agile/DevSecOps mindset and experience with Scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, JavaScript) and Test Driven Development (TDD)

  • Experience with software development in any of the following: kernal mode, embedded, command and control web applications, network applications

  • Experience with developing Human Machine Interfaces

  • Experience with git (Gitlab, Atlassian) and gcc/make

  • Experience with Jenkins, Nexus, Docker, apt/yum packaging

  • Ability to develop and implement shell scripts

  • Experience with IDA Pro and Ghidra

  • Experience with the Agile methodology

  • An understanding of Cyber technologies, vulnerability assessment and/or penetration testing

  • Active Top Secret security clearance

Principal Software Engineer-

Salary Minimum: $92,000

Salary Maximum: $138,000

Sr. Principal Software Engineer-

Salary Minimum: $114,080

Salary Maximum: $171,120

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
