BAE Navigation and Sensor Systems Cedar Rapid, IA is looking for Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) to serve as the quality single point of contact for our defense customers and to work with high volume production programs and directly influence the success of the program execution. This position will be located at the NSS production facility currently in Coralville IA, moving to a new state of the art facility in Cedar Rapids in 2021 exclusively developed for BAE NSS with all business activities onsite.

The Customer Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the customer needs and expectations are met and maintained during the entire product development lifecycle. The role also requires interface between the production and supplier quality assurance teams, operations, engineering and program management. The role includes monitor and control of quality assurance and Life Cycle Management with a focus BAE Systems Compliance, Supplier Performance and Continuous Improvement which will require functional alignment across the Business Area.

In this position you will be partnered and work closely with Program Leadership and supporting organizations in order to drive the health and compliance of the program with particular focus on improving overall program execution. You will work closely with NSS Leadership, Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Supplier Quality, Finance and Contracts in assuring compliance to business process as well as contractual requirements. A thorough understanding of quality management and project management in a Production Program Environment is required and integral to driving continuous improvement; value added solutions, achieving near term solutions, as well as being predictive in identifying early warning prior to situations degrading.

Primary duties include:

1.Ensure customer specific requirements are understood and incorporated into project deliverables. Ensure the customer needs and expectations are met during the product development lifecycle.

2.Timely response to customer complaints

3.Achieving and maintaining customer and corporate quality goals

4.Monthly reporting of Customer Scorecard status & corporate KPIs

5.Managing customer site visits and assessments

6.Manage the safe launch process to ensure effective risk management and process capability is established before start of production.

7.Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive scorecard management

8.Ensure quality risks are identified, contained, and managed throughout each phase of business pursuit and program implementation

9.Collaborates with Program Management, Engineering and Operations to ensure Overall Program Performance.

10.Provide direction and guidance to ensure alignment with policy, strategic objectives and organizational goals.

11.Responsible for the Quality of end item deliverables as well as outgoing Quality Product.

12.Assures compliance to Quality Management Systems, Lifecycle Management and AS9100D requirements.

13.Lead effort to drive pro-active quality into the design by helping to define Key Product and Process Characteristics and utilizing AS9145 early in the production process.

14.Leads integrated teams to determine effective strategy and tactical deployment, improve performance, lower costs, and generate innovative solutions within the program and organization.

15.Lead multi-functional teams in problem resolution and continuous improvement activities with an emphasis on Six Sigma, Lean practices and other critical thinking improvement methods and resources

Required Skills and Education

Required Skills :

The ability to maintain positive relationships with program administration, cross-functional program stakeholders, suppliers, customers and government representatives.

Bachelor Degree in a technical area and 4 years of related in automotive or aerspace as well as experience directly managing customers

Automotive or aerospace electronics, manufacturing experience desired

Experience with AS9145 or APQP.

Experience with developing FMEA/PFMEA/Control Plans

Experience with statistical and metrics software (Minitab)

Application and adherence to Quality Management Systems IS0 9001, AS9100 or ISO/TS 16949

Working knowledge of Industry and Government Quality Requirements and Standards

The ability to lead, support, and mentor others in routine settings and difficult situations

Ability to collaborate with program team members to develop practical solutions to complex problems

Advanced knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action (8D) methodology, systems and resources

Experience in predictive and proactive measures and metrics assessments and supporting actions to improve performance or mitigate problems

Thorough written and verbal presentation skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Individual will need to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization and business.

Six Sigma Green belt/Black belt

Advanced Technical Degree.
