The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high risk patients. In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm.
About this unit: * If you like variety, working as a PSA is for you. Each shift will be exciting, different and challenging! * As a hands-on caregiver, you are the one who has the privilege of holding a patient’s hand and listening to the person’s life story. * You will monitor your patient’s physical and emotional conditions while maintaining a direct line of site at all times. Responsibilities: * Renders care to patients that include activities of daily living relative to age specific needs, attends to basic nursing care, and maintains a safe and clean environment. * Establishes a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention. Performs room assessment regularly and after any visitations. * Intervenes as needed to prevent patient from harming self or others. Seeks immediate assistance for escalating incidents. * Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patient rights to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality.
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification
- Work Hours: Full Time Nights. 7 PM - 7 AM, Rotating Weekends *Lakeview Regional Medical Center *is a full service, acute care hospital providing inpatient and outpatient healthcare services to St. Tammany Parish residents since 1977.
