Aerojet Rocketdyne has an opportunity for a Senior Program Management Analyst to serve as a rocket motor operations integrator at our site near Culpeper, in rural Orange County, Virginia , a 1+ hour drive from Washington DC. At this location, we produce and develop a variety of solid rocket motors and energetic assemblies for rocket propulsion.
This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
This position requires excellent communication skills, self-motivation, strong leadership skills and the ability to handle and resolve complex problems with minimal guidance. In addition, this position will be required to directly support the section Senior Manager or lead PM with status reports, presentation materials and technical and cost status. Willingness to travel and flexibility to work occasional extended hours are required.
The Program Manager provides overall program direction, control, and coordination. Responsible for management and contract performance of elements of a program. Manages and directs assigned programs, which includes defining and understanding program scope, managing overall schedules and budget in accordance with applicable contractual and Aerojet Rocketdyne policies. Assures through the assigned program team that contract performance responsibility is properly delegated to performing organizations and outside suppliers. Participates in the forecast of awards/margins and sales/profit for assigned programs as part of the Aerojet Rocketdyne business planning cycle. Provides guidance and assistance to project team in meeting established schedules or to resolve complex technical or operations problems. Responsible for effectively utilizing functional organizations to integrate research and development, production, quality assurance, test, production support, procurement, contractual and financial data.
80% - Effective execution of responsible project(s):
Responsible for the administration and/or operational leadership of a program element(s) or projects under the immediate guidance of the Program Manager.
Collaborate with all functions to ensure on-time execute.
Ensure timely submittal of all customer data submittals.
Utilize earned value management to manage project establishing earned value baseline.
10% - Proposal Support - Submit proposals for various program needs. Collaborate with program team to define scope. Lead multiple proposals with timeline, accurate submittals. Provide Basis of Estimate (BOE) and manufacturing section of proposals.
10% - Control/Cost Account Management (CAM) - Responsible for schedule and cost variance analysis. Effectively communicate schedule & budget to functional organizations Perform variance reviews and implement corrective actions as required to ensure effective earned value & programmatic controls.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience and familiarity with MS Office products required, such as:
MS PowerPoint (presentations, logic diagrams)
MS Project or similar scheduling tool to create simple project files, critical path and pre-emptive evaluations
MS Excel (entering formulas, graphing, developing spreadsheets)
MS Word (tables, program plans)
Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience or willingness to learn required
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to technical problems with minimum supervision.
Preferred Qualifications :
Project Management Institute (PMI) certification.
Demonstrated managerial level of leadership.
Extensive knowledge of financial management and business development practices.
Demonstrated abilities in team building, leadership and delegation skills to achieve project goals.
Ability to coordinate various activities simultaneously and to make real-time plan adjustments.
Innovative thinking abilities who can challenge existing systems in order to create bold, inventive solutions that enhance efficiency within development and production projects.
Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and delegate work assignments.
Demonstrated skills and abilities to provide technical and administrative guidance for activities in defined scope of responsibilities.
Proven ability to utilize excellent oral and written communication skills to build teams that are goal-oriented and focused on success, including presentation skills appropriate for management level.
Experience working in a technical environment (engineering, manufacturing) and leading a technical team.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
