Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Operations and Products Division is currently seeking an OHT Configuration Engineer for its Decatur, IL location. You will be responsible for the configuration of both mechanical and battery electric Off-Highway Truck NPI programs. As an OHT Configuration Engineer you will develop and maintain machine layouts and bills of material, support other engineers with configuration-related design tasks and review design changes to ensure quality.
Developing and maintaining overall machine layout and arrangements for Off-Highway Trucks.
Contributing to the concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes.
Maintaining Bill of Material (BOM) structure including all attachments.
Predicting the overall weight and center of gravity of the machine.
Maintaining machine model stability.
Maintaining dimensional and weight-related shipping compliance.
Supporting propulsion and retarding performance analyses.
Performing configuration reviews within the Teamcenter-Global Engineering Change process and reviewing design changes to ensure they are error-free.
Collaborating closely with all supporting system design teams and with downstream supporting teams such as supply chain and manufacturing.
Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.
6 plus years of job-related experience.
Top candidate will also have
Previous experience with product, process, and machine design and integration.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Pro/E or Creo 3D modeling experience and have an understanding of print reading and GD&T.
Good knowledge of basic PC software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Be capable of managing shifting priorities while maintaining good interpersonal skills in a team environment.
Familiarity with the NPI process.
Familiarity with Off-Highway Trucks
Experience with VisView or TeamCenter software.
This position may require 10% travel.
