Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems is seeking a Top Secret cleared candidate for a Principal or Senior Principal Simulation Software Engineering role (depending on years of experience) to work on large commercial and non-commercial space programs. Studies in computer hardware and software engineering expected. As part of the simulation software team, the candidate will develop software and define hardware to implement closed loop simulation for avionics flight computers on Space Vehicle (SV) testbeds. The candidate will select hardware cards to simulate SV component data and control interfaces, define testbed harness simulation connections to avionics units, develop software models and interfaces simulating SV components, and test and integrate the completed simulation testbed with the avionics units and flight software executing closed loop scenarios. The candidate will work as part of a program team of simulation, flight software, avionics hardware, and systems engineers. The candidate will also develop specialized test equipment for SV subsystem testing and simulation.

Prior work in an engineering organization and the ability to learn and excel as part of a simulation software development team is beneficial. Programming experience with C/C++ and the ability to debug simulation hardware and software for avionics integration and test environments using common lab equipment is preferred. Excellent writing, reading and speaking skills are expected as the candidate will be involved in the entire software development, test and operations lifecycle. Familiarity with typical spacecraft avionics communication standards and basic electrical engineering practices is beneficial.

The ability to work in a small team setting and effectively communicate with other engineering teams is essential.

Experience with Agile and DevSecOps a plus.

Responsibilities:

· Design, develop and maintain software applications using C, C+ · Design software simulation models from component interface control drawings, specs, and schematics

· Develop and direct software system testing procedures, programming and documentation

· System level design and debug of digital/analog/serial/power hardware interfaces

· Integrate and debug simulation hardware and software with testbed or unit under test

· Perform other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Senior Principal will require a minimum of 9 years of experience in the industry within a coding environment and a Principal will require a minimum of 5 years of experience in the coding environment, in addition to the required experience listed below:

  • B.S. Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Software or Computer Engineering or Physics is required

  • Experience in physics-based software modeling in aerospace environments.

  • C/C++programming experience

  • Ability to debug simulation hardware and software for avionics integration and test

  • An active Top Secret clearance is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile and DevSecOps is preferred
