As a Senior Director of UHC Technical Benefit Operations, you will lead a team to monitor technology operations to ensure the stability and efficiency of business functions. In this role, you are an advocate on behalf of our business to drive stakeholder trust and confidence that key capabilities will exceed service level expectations and reduce operational disruptions in support of the sole reason we exist: our members, customers, and providers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide visibility and transparency to technology operations impacting the business via regular and ad hoc meetings and reporting for C-level executives

  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes that provide visibility into goals, progress, and obstacles for our key initiatives by ensuring we have the right “probes” in place to accurately advocate for the health of all things “tech” as they relate to UHC Operations; understand the 'big levers' important to the business and drive accountability for end-to-end system performance (i.e., ability to serve the business)

  • Analyze current operational processes and performance, driving solutions for improvement. Must be able to analyze operations processes to identify challenges and create solutions by effectively working with other groups by motivating, and collaborating, to accomplish objectives including delegating, and/or knowing when to escalate

  • Build and maintain relationships with Line of Business leaders, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity, strategic goals, and Readiness; Collaborate with executive-level management in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans

  • Must be able to anticipate issues that affect successful outcomes and approach challenges with creative solutions. Also, must be able to interpret input and information that are necessary for making decisions about business processes and impact technology has on them.

  • Devise strategies to ensure growth of programs enterprise-wide, identifying and implementing process improvements that will maximize output and minimize costs

  • Connect dots exceptionally well, understand the big picture and dig deep into the details when needed. Understand the technical supply chain. Must understand how services and platforms relate to each other and how they affect outcomes

  • Lead team with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in technology field

  • 5+ years of experience in direct leadership (including duties such as performance reviews, productivity reviews, metrics reporting, etc)

  • 3+ years of experience within one of more of the following: workforce management, contact center operations, back office or the digital space

  • 3+ years of experience in planning and managing operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity

  • 3+ years of experience establishing best practices, patterns, and templates impacting IT operations

  • 3+ years of experience communicating complex technical concepts to senior leaders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience Healthcare

  • Ability to streamline and implement new structures and roles that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands

  • Ability to develop, translate, and executes strategies or functional/operational objectives for a region, line of business, or major portion of a business segment functional area

  • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions for increased productivity

  • Direct others to resolve highly complex or unusual technology problems that affect business operations

  • Superior negotiation skills in both internal and external settings

  • Solid working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics

  • Local to Eden Prairie, MN or Boston, MA

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $130,300 to $250,200. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $130,300 to $250,200. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
