UnitedHealth Group VP, Enterprise Readiness, Delivery & Performance - Telecommute in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

Join us to conduct and manage outcomes of various initiatives that include analyzing, forecasting, trending, and presenting information for business planning. Support short and long term operational/strategic business activities - by developing, enhancing and maintaining operational information and processes. Develop and implement effective/strategic business solutions through process re-engineering, governance, and analysis to drive strategic decision-making. Works cross-functionality to establish key business processes, ownership, and define service level agreements while maintaining operational excellence and efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead Enterprise Readiness & Delivery. Provide leadership to and is accountable for the performance and results of diverse enterprise capabilities through multiple layers of management across UnitedHealth Group (UHG)

  • Take ownership of position by proactively leading and influencing business process change, driving performance improvements and transformation projects across Optum’s business portfolios and complex client deals. This includes improving implementation times, making service repeatable and reliable, ensuring reporting and feedback rigor with the customer and internal stakeholders

  • Gain a deep understanding of enterprise capabilities, functional, teams and specific product areas across Optum to drive cross-functional decision-making to ensure sound business decisions

  • Drive continuous productivity within Optum’s product and services to optimize execution across, stabilize performance, and improve quality

  • Identify opportunities and utilize data and technology solutions to streamline processes and automate operations across existing product portfolio

  • Provide leadership to establish performance metrics to excel Optum operational readiness process across the product portfolio

  • Work cross-functionally across the sales and business/ops leadership teams to drive visibility to customer issues and drive process improvement projects to reduce defects and continue to improve processes to reduce implementation cycle time and ongoing operational support costs

  • Ensure all operational readiness deliverables are executed to support critical business initiatives, new product introduction, and on-going management of the operation

  • Evaluate available data to identify and develop practical alternatives to complex situations. Summarizes conclusions and recommendations. Develop and present business recommendations to leadership

  • General understanding of budgeting and forecasting tools, terminology, and processes

  • Onboard, and develop team members providing guidance and structure to establish on-going Readiness playbook focused on operations and governance to drive a 365-day readiness program that supports business and enterprise priorities through application of the Readiness framework

This position requires sound ability to facilitate through customer issues, service provider issues, and business process decisions. This position will also be focused on working across cross-functional teams driving and gaining consensus to identify the best business solution possible to improve our onboarding process. The role will be required to make resource and organizational design decisions as they develop the future state of the business.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ years of experience within Operations with expertise supporting an end-to-end product, capability, and/or service

  • 3+ years of experience working with Senior Leadership within a large global company

  • 3+ years of experience managing a team

  • Strong EQ expertise with the ability to facilitate cross functional team through major process and business changes

  • Experience managing large capital budgets

  • Proven management and negotiation skills

  • Experience working in a large complex matrix experience

  • Proven ability to manage and drive team performance both in a direct and matrixed environment

  • Strong operational focus with demonstrated project management, change management, and execution skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision and drive results with disciplined follow-though

  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to align people related strategies and recommendations with business objectives

  • Adaptable and flexible style of collaborating with key stakeholders in setting direction

  • Proven ability to quickly gain credibility, influence and partner with business leaders and the human capital community

  • High integrity with a reputation of a trusted confidential adviser and partner

  • Strong decision-making skills including prioritization of capital investments and business change controls

  • Superior executive presence and ability to communicate effectively to the highest levels of leadership

  • Excellent judgment, problem resolution, team building, negotiation, conflict resolution, budgeting, decision-making, & experience working under continual deadline pressure

  • Perform trending and statistical analysis to make tough business decisions

  • Excellent risk planning skills & risk identification, quantification, & response planning skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, etc.)

  • Six Sigma certification and process expertise

  • Operational Readiness experience

  • Working knowledge of Optum / UHG / UHC

  • Experience within a healthcare and/or managed care environment

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $169,500 to $322,500. The role is also eligible to participate in UHG’s annual bonus and long-term incentive plans.
