Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Manager Systems Engineering 2 - F/A-18 Product Development reporting to F/A-18 Programs Engineering Director. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.
This position will lead the F/A-18 Systems Engineering and Integration IPT. The IPT consists of a multi-discipline team of Requirements Engineers, System Analysts, Project Engineers, Mass Property Engineers, Safety Engineers and R&M Engineers. System Engineering tasks include coordination of all major changes to the aircraft. R&M tasks include managing Engineering Investigations of failed fleet hardware and coordination of changes resulting from fleet failures.
This position will have full accountability for cost, schedule and technical performance of the IPT. The candidate will lead and provide daily direction to the IPT to ensure program goals are achieved. The position also includes general administration of the department, establishing and managing departmental budgets, staffing, as well as recruiting and hiring, workload forecast, training, mentoring, communications, time record approvals, and process compliance. It also includes coordination of performance evaluations, merit plans, promotions and award submittals with the Functional Homeroom (FHR). Extensive customer interface and some travel will be required.
This position will be a direct report to the MAS Systems Engineering and Electronics & Payloads Director and a dotted line report to the F/A-18, F-5 Director and Chief Engineer.

•Bachelor's Degree in a STEM Discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 7 years of experience in Systems Engineering or a related field
• Strong program technical leadership skills; Experience leading a technical team of >10 employees to successful product delivery.
• Strong program execution skills; Demonstrated ability to meet program technical, cost, and schedule milestones.
• Hands On knowledge of programmatic/CAM processes, project planning and scheduling, cost control, change control, EVMS, staffing coordination and oversight of technical work effort.
•The ability to obtain Secret Clearance
•Master's Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Aeronautical, Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace) with 15 years of experience in Systems Engineering or related field
• Broad knowledge of end-to-end program lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience in managing a technical program through delivery of a product.
• Technical breadth in the System Engineering, System Requirements and Project Engineering.
• Technical breadth in managing major subcontractors.
• Strong partnership/collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to partner cross-IPT/cross-discipline within a team.
• Ability to integrate, engage, and lead team to perform at top level of performance.
• Ability to leverage experience/background to bring alternative ideas/solutions to the team.
• Development and Production Program experience.
•Experience with the programs, including F-35, F-18, and/or B-2.
•Active Secret Clearance.
