What does a great Director of Database Architecture do?
This role combines the Database Architecture and Engineering to create multiple Databases with specific product roadmaps for each and lifecycle management plans that DBAs and others can execute against. Microsoft SQL Server is a core focus.
Basic Qualifications for Consideration:
Demonstrated excellence in the field of database engineering and / or architecture at an enterprise scale, with at least 10 years under your belt
Experience leading teams, providing technical leadership as well as soft-skill guidance and mentoring to your staff as required
Experience with standards documentation, roadmaps, and fielding escalation requests from your peer organizations
The ability to draw on your knowledge and experience with database capacity planning, performance management and disaster recovery planning, and applying this legacy knowledge to the go-forward direction that we are taking Fiserv’s database platforms
Preferred Qualifications for Consideration:
You’ve got a github account packed full of PowerShell and Python that you can bring to bear on enterprise-scale automation problems in the database platform engineering space
Other database ecosystem knowledge and experience: Oracle, DB2, Sybase (really?), Postgres, Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
You’ve operated in a highly-regulated and secure environment before, and understand the special considerations presented by such environments
