Eastman Control System Technician - Jefferson Hills in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania


The Control Systems Technician position will provide automation and process control system services and support for safe, reliable manufacturing of hydrocarbon resins at the Jefferson Site located in Jefferson Hills, PA (about 15 miles south of Pittsburgh). These services will primarily be focused on PLC (Allen-Bradley, Modicon), DCS (Foxboro, DeltaV), HMI (iFIX), PI (Oil Systems), field E&I devices, and other related system hardware and software.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, and troubleshoot process control systems to ensure safe, reliable operations at the Jefferson site. Operations include chemical processes as well as wastewater treatment, boiler house, and other ancillary operations. The controls are comprised of PLC (Allen-Bradley, Modicon), DCS (Foxboro, DeltaV), HMI (iFIX), PI (Data Historian Systems), field E&I devices, and other related system hardware and software.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot DCS and PLC programming.

  • Direct and support E&I Technicians and Shift Utility Mechanics during equipment installation and troubleshooting scenarios.

  • Travel associated with this position would be ≤5%.

  • Provide after-hours call-in duty as needed for approximately one week per month.

  • Support the implementation of small capital projects; provide control systems hardware and networking support for large capital projects.

  • Direct and implement PLC upgrade capital projects

  • Maintain up to date cyber security software, systems software patching, and physical security of Controls System computers and operator workstations

  • Assist in the development and troubleshooting of instrument loops by checking wiring and junction box terminations

  • Work with third party contractors to troubleshoot PLC and/or DCS networking, software, and hardware problems


Education Requirements:

  • Post high school education and training is desired. Such education and training could include a college or university education (Associate Degree), Trade School, Technical School or Apprenticeship Program.


  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred

  • Experience with some or all these control systems required: Allen Bradley/Modicon PLCs, Foxboro DCS, iFIX HMI, DeltaV and PI Process Book

  • Experience with working and troubleshooting electrical circuits required

  • Experience with networking configuration and equipment preferred
