Merck Senior Specialist, Safety & Environment in Kenilworth, New Jersey

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Specialist, Safety & Environment for our Kenilworth, NJ location to be responsible for maintaining, developing and configuring EHS systems and processes, using Enablon to ensure compliance and risk control for Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) and sustainability by adding, tracking and managing various incidents occurring, performing audits as per Local, State and Federal standard guidelines, tracking and managing Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 Emissions as per GHG protocol, adding and managing actions and tasks and performing regulatory tracking as per the respective government standards across the globe.

Job duties include the following:

  • Analyze historical EHS data for trends for annual global and divisional EHS metrics and goals for the company based on EHS Objectives and priorities;

  • Create and generate reports for Global Safety and the Environment (GSE) management to communicate results versus target and monitor data for emerging trends;

  • Track performance using IT systems such as Enablon, Entropy, and Spotfire and provide data as needed for EHS Council;

  • Design, develop and configure reports and queries in Enablon for GSE Leadership Team; Assess and anticipate business needs for Enablon outputs;

  • Support the Environmental Data Collection process and roll-up of metrics for the Corporate Responsibility report;

  • Support external reporting requests such as PSG/PEG, Carbon Disclosure, etc. Review and analyze data with Centers of Excellence (subject matter experts) to ensure accuracy of calculated results and reported data;

  • Manage budget expectations of -3% / +1% per quarter;

  • Support various EHS Portfolio Projects through the development of reports and configuration of Enablon and Spotfire;

  • Configure and test to support design and configuration changes in Enablon system;

  • Work with IT and Portfolio Project team to execute the transition to Enablon from Entropy to ensure continuity of business processes with minimal disruption to the business;

  • Provide technical support and business/system knowledge to guide future enhancements to Enablon;

  • Report monthly and roll up leading and lagging metrics into Spotfire and other reports from Enablon and Entropy to support the needs of Regional and Business support leads in their efforts to communicate performance vs. objectives to management in a timely manner;

  • Manage the administration of Entropy and Enablon to ensure access and usability;

  • Monitor system usage through reports and metrics to ensure a high level of data integrity;

  • Provide training and guidance to users of EHS IT systems such as Enablon, Entropy, and Spotfire; and

  • Manage the process to ensure monthly headcount is calculated using Access database and loaded into Enablon.

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering or related field.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 8 years of experience managing application development, configuration and enhancements through application life cycle management.

  • Experience must include the following: implementing enterprise SAAS application; working with analytical tools (Spotfire or Tableau); and working with Enablon application and Enablon Configuration Engine.
