Northrop Grumman Space System has an opening for a Staff Project Management to join our team of qualified, diverse, individuals within the Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) Division.

Programmatic focus will be on the activities to develop key technologies, integrate and shape solutions for Space Payload and Ground Systems Division while also supporting the creation of new strategies to win and execute future development programs. This position will be located in Baltimore, MD and placement will be commensurate with qualifications.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensures that prior to program execution, all elements of the proposed program(s) plans have complete and accurate schedules, budgets, make/buy plans, and procurement and subcontracts strategies

  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing hardware development and serves as liaison between project management and planning, engineering team, and line management

  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives

  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

  • Accountable for resource planning, material cost, forecasting, risk/opportunity management, proposal development activities

  • Interface with program personnel on successful engineering execution via metrics, and identification and tracking of technical issues and risks

  • Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership

  • Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts

  • Interface with cross-functional departments to secure team staffing

  • Work with suppliers and be able to articulate project requirements

  • Brief internal and customer leadership on progress of work assigned

The selected candidate will perform in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings. The ideal candidate is expected to be self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented and possess effective verbal and written communication skills


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of industry related experience in Finance, Accounting, Global Supply Chain, Business Management/ Pricing/Cost estimating, and or Project Management; 13 years with a Master's degree

  • Leadership experience should include project planning, cost & schedule management including tracking, manufacturing support, vendor selection and management, and technology management. Technology management must include at least 2 years of direct electronic hardware hands on leadership experience with a strong desire to continue managing and working closely with electronic hardware products.

  • Experience with evaluating supplier proposals, developing Bills of Materials (BOMs), expenditure profiles, termination liability profiles

  • Possesses understanding of Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

  • Experience in financial planning, forecasting, and analysis

  • Experience preparing and presenting financial analysis to senior level management and corporate leadership

  • Experience leading teams to successful outcomes

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with added emphasis on advanced Excel data analysis competency

  • Knowledge of MPM, SAP, Business Warehouse, or similar systems

  • US Citizenship and Active Top-Secret clearance, with willingness to obtain TS/SCI, is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of NG Space Sector and/or Space Programs

  • MBA or a Master's Degree in a Business related field

  • Experience supporting large complex proposal and hardware development activities

  • Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects

  • Fluency with developing and executing project schedules

  • Basic understanding of the Design, Manufacturing, and Test process

  • Problem-solving experience in a team environment

  • PMP certification a plus

  • Active TS/SCI with counterintelligence polygraph
