Will be responsible for the technical, cost, and schedule execution of software development activities across one or more of the multiple Lines of Business (LOB) on the RMS Syracuse site. This includes the opportunity to be assigned to multiple programs and products over the course of being on the software organization staff. Position will include significant interface to LOB Chief Engineers and Program Offices. Will be engaged in program software development activities across the full software development life cycle, ensuring the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools are applied on assigned programs. Will be given the opportunity to advance the craft of software engineering, implementing new and modern tools and techniques. Responsibilities include mentoring and guidance of less experienced software managers and leaders. Will be responsible for personnel management of a software team to include performance assessment, career development guidance, assignment onto programs, merit and salary actions, training plans, staffing and recruiting.

Depending on the candidate, responsibilities may also include software project management, new business capture, software architecture and design, and/or advancement of modern software technology.

Desired Skills: In depth understanding of C++ and Java; experience with Agile methodology and tools, automated testing and continuous integration. Demonstrated experience leading diverse large scale (+20) engineering teams. Expertise in Software Estimation techniques. Complex system development experience. Experience in Systems Engineering or other Organizations. Expertise in Radar, Electronic Warfare, Signal Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Parallel Processing, and/or Secure Processing.


Proven leadership experience in engineering assignments and successful proven results in leading and executing on software intensive programs. Strong and proven understanding of the Engineering development process. Ability to multi-task, excellent communication skills, and Full Spectrum Leadership (FSL) skills. Working knowledge in the development of software using multiple programming languages (e.g. C++, Java) on multiple development platforms (e.g. Windows, Linux).

Must have the ability to obtain a security clearance.
