The Army TADSS Maintenance Program (ATMP) is a seven year Single Award ID/IQ contract for maintenance, sustainment, operations, and support of Army Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS), Live-Fire Ranges, and Instrumentation Systems. The ATMP portfolio includes 250,000 live, virtual, constructive, and gaming TADSS located at 422 sites worldwide.
The technician applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers manuals or similar documents.
The Gunsmith position is located at the Louisville, KY Depot. This position provides technical support to assist with customer support in daily training device component repairs for the ATMP (Army Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations Maintenance Program) contract and specific towards the Engagement Skills Trainer systems and associated simulated weapons. Prior gunsmith experience is beneficial and preferably within simulated weapons. Beginning to intermediate knowledge of electronic systems and components.
The Engagement Skills Trainer (EST) is designed to simulate live weapon training events that directly support individual and crew-served weapons qualification, including individual marksmanship, small unit collective and judgmental escalation-of-force exercises in a controlled environment.
The EST simulator provides enhanced diagnostics with intelligent Automatic Coaching and Virtual Battle Space (VBS) 3 based collective training using the system’s open architecture.
Troubleshoot, repair, test, and potentially build and modify all simulated weapons from MEGITT or Cubic in design:

Perform all functions required to maintain and repair weapons specifically for the Engagement Skills Trainer. This position will require the use of spares and repair parts to repair faults IAW technical guidelines. Will research and select repair parts needed and enter work order data in the on-line AWARE management information system. Will apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.

-Appropriate training and a minimum of 5 years working experience or five years related military training or a combination of education and experience.
- Weapons simulations work have applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, electronic and electrical testing according to engineering instructions and technical manuals.
-Experience working with teams cross functionally at all levels, customers and technicians
- Beginning to intermediate knowledge of electronic systems and components will be useful in a practical application of the simulation and correlation of weapon to system.
Ability to work in a fast paced demanding environment.
-This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.
Able to repair and modify firearms to blueprint, manuals and customer specifications using hand tools, power tools and grinders.
Fit action and barrel into stock aligns parts
Replace lower and upper receivers and parts
Install parts, like metallic or optical sights, pistol grips, recoil pads and pieces of firearms using screws and hand tools.
Proof firearms with simulated ammunition for functionality.
Factory level repair and restore weapons
Experience in the sustainment of military systems and equipment.
