Phlebotomist * *Medical City McKinney Full Time
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Pathologist and Director of Laboratory Services and in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local regulations and accrediting agencies. Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares tissue for microscopic examination, hematology, serology, blood banking, urinalysis, chemical and morphological examinations. Assumes responsibility for problem solving and quality control.
The staff member can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients from newborn through adolescence.
License/Certification Required: * High school graduate or equivalent. * Must be able to satisfactorily complete veni-puncture and phlebotomy skills with on-the-job training. * Phlebotomy certified or minimum 1 year experience or equivalent clinical training/experience or six months of hospital experience if internal employee transfer. * Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
