BAE Systems Diversity & Inclusion Lead in McLean, Virginia
The Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Lead, Intelligence & Security Sector (I&S) will be responsible for developing and executing a strategy to attract, engage, develop, and retain a diverse workforce while advancing an inclusive culture for the I&S sector of 6,400 employees. This role will work-cross functionally and partner with executives, leaders, managers, and HR team members to ensure D&I best practices are infused into each stage of the employee lifecycle. This role sits within the I&S Human Resources team and collaborates closely with our enterprise-wide D&I team.
Create and execute a strategy to attract, engage, develop, and retain a diverse workforce while advancing an inclusive culture for the I&S sector, which may include:
Talent Acquisition: Partnering with the Talent Acquisition organization to advise on D&I outreach partnerships and embed D&I best practices into our sourcing and hiring processes.
D&I Development: Working with our Talent Manager to manage our sector s sponsorship program for high-potential employees. Liaising with the enterprise D&I team to support D&I mentorship and coaching programs. Leading the selection process for professional development opportunities with our D&I partners. D&I Education Programs: Scheduling and delivering D&I educational courses within our D&I curriculum suite. Holding ad-hoc educational sessions with teams (HR, TA, leadership, etc.) to ensure our key stakeholders stay up to date on D&I best practices.
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs): Supporting sector and local ERG activities and events. Supporting the sector s ERG site-councils. Advising enterprise-wide ERGs.
D&I Communications: Working with our communications team to support internal and external D&I communications such as executive thought leadership pieces, internal communications and celebrations for heritage months, communicating D&I activities, etc.
D&I Committee: Leading the sector s Diversity & Inclusion Committee that provides executive-level recommendations on improving D&I in our organization.
Metrics & Reporting: Providing regular updates on the status of our D&I goals and metrics to leadership including information for monthly and quarterly business reviews and monthly board reports.
D&I Team Collaboration: Collaborating with the enterprise-wide D&I team on enterprise-level D&I initiatives and decisions.
D&I Projects: Managing and leading new D&I projects from start to finish, such as building new resources, toolkits, objectives, etc.
Required Skills and Education
Experience supporting HR, diversity and inclusion, leadership, and/or company-wide initiatives
Experience working with or leading cross-functional teams and facilitating discussions
Ability to juggle multiple priorities with superior attention to detail
Ability to work independently, set priorities, plan workflow and take initiative
Clarity, tact, professionalism and consensus building skills - in writing, speaking and presenting information
Ability to effectively persuade, influence, and negotiate across all levels
Preferred Skills and Education
Bachelor's degree in human resource management, organizational development, business administration or closely related field; Master s degree a plus
5 years of related experience (e.g. experience with diversity and inclusion, human resources, project management, program management, facilitation, etc.)
A demonstrated passion for diversity and inclusion
