J&J Family of Companies Medical Device R&D Technician in Miami, Florida

Cerenovus is currently hiring for a Medical Device R&D Technician (1st Shift) located at our Miami, Florida site.

The R&D Technician will work in a team environment to develop products and treatments for Stroke and Neurovascular disease, while organizing and maintaining a device prototyping lab. This role supports complex engineering activities. Independently performs testing per protocol, gathers/analyzes data, checks documents and drawings for clarity and completeness, supports engineers in the development of tools and test methods, assist in process development, assists in manufacturing of device prototypes. Participates in design of experiments and capability studies as support staff, collects and maintains documents, and records design specifications. Uses CAD for tool design, and statistical software tools for data entry. Works independently on multiple tasks for various projects under limited supervision and guidance of engineering staff.


  • A minimum of a High school diploma is required. An advanced degree (such as Associates or Bachelor) is preferred.

  • At least five (5) years of experience in technical R&D work is required.

  • Effective oral and written skills in English.

  • Good knowledge of mechanisms, fixtures and engineering concepts.

  • Understand engineering design issues, tooling issues, process issues, ability to relate these to others.

  • Ability to operate sophisticated lab equipment and instruments such as laser micrometer and tensile tester.

  • Capacity to learn new skills and apply these to solve new problems.

  • Ability to follow established test procedures.

  • Ability to develop and document new test procedures as appropriate.

  • Conceptualize designs as they relate to test fixture and test equipment capabilities.

  • Able to work independently and complete tasks on time.

  • Able to organize and document tasks to achieve assignment objectives.

  • Computer skills, with knowledge of MS Office.

  • Data entry into various software packages such as Excel and Minitab.

  • Prototyping skills of both devices and tooling.

  • Understanding of mechanics and material behavior of metals, adhesives, polymers, elastomers and sealants.

  • Understanding of calibration systems and methodology.

  • Mathematical and statistical proficiency.

  • Understanding of geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack-up analysis.

  • Basic understanding of analysis software such as Minitab.

  • CAD software proficiency is preferred.
