_Job Description:__ _ The Unit Clerk supports the registered nurse in the daily secretarial functions for an assigned nursing unit in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Kendall Medical Center. * The Unit Clerk will organize and facilitate the admission and discharge process on the Unit by correctly relaying information and transcribing orders in compliance with hospital and nursing services policies and procedures. * Receives and provides status report from off-going/ on-coming unit clerk. * Prepares chart, addressograph plate and kardex on each patient admitted to the nursing unit. * Transcribes Physician's Orders under the supervision of a registered nurse in the following manner. * Pulls copies of orders and gives copies to Pharmacy and RN assigned to patient. * Assist physicians in obtaining charts and diagnostic * Assembles the medical record for patient transfers and assembles medical record to forward to Medical Records when a patient is discharged. * Orders department supplies on scheduled day. Does not over stock.
- *High school diploma or the equivalent. *
- 1-3 years experience
- Basic computer/keyboard skills preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
