UnitedHealth Group Sr. Manager, Business Architecture - UnitedHealthcare - Telecommute in Minnetonka, Minnesota

The Sr. Manager, Business Architecture will be responsible for organizing, defining, developing, coordinating, and implementing the strategic steps taken to integrate and consolidate any new brands, entities or technologies into the organization. They will work alongside the Technical Product Owners, the Sales and Marketing Leadership team and the Digital Management Leadership team in order to ensure success and immersion of all brands allowing them to function as a standardized, platform driven, and commercially driven organization. This role will be focused on Marketing, Sales and Distribution in both the Carrier and Agency context. The role will also extend to packages that pertain to each of the distribution channels such as Broker, Agency and Direct to Consumer.

The position will rely on some instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. There will also need to be a certain degree of creativity and latitude from the individual. The individual will work with several other teams in and across the Sales, Marketing, and Distribution organization. Working as a trusted partner within the business, this position will engage on both a tactical and strategic level, focusing on the efficiency, cost and schedule performance to integrate brands and new businesses providing a differentiating quality value to all business and engineering stakeholders. This position is for an individual who is both strategic and hands-on. This position will also need to prioritize tasks, resolve complex problems, both as an individual contributor or for their team members as the leader. They will require little direction, gives guidance to others, works on technical projects, and has advanced knowledge within area of functional responsibility. This position will have oversight and management over an integration team of resources both directly and “dotted lined” reporting to them.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Acts as key member of the leadership team ensuring successful integration performance by ensuring conforming products and services through effective collaboration, compliance to processes, and procedures

  • Builds strategic roadmaps which align business processes, people, technology and data to a schedule for integration and consolidation of incoming brands working with the Technical Product Owners to identify strategic applications and retiring the applications which are replaced

  • Identifies strategic integration needs across the organization working with the Business Capabilities and Architecture organization. This includes the integration requirements that stem from Merger and Acquisitions as well as business unit movement into UHOne

  • Leads/facilitates integration and execution activities alongside the leaders of the organization in order to meet the organization’s needs

  • Where required, facilitates the integration of Carriers and Producers taking a holistic view of the working ecosystem between trading partners in our industry

  • Performs root cause analysis for problems experienced within area of functional responsibility

  • Provides technical support and expertise on the technical components of the Integration implementation projects

  • Designs, implements and supports advanced and diverse technical solutions that address complex business requirements

  • Partners with engineering leadership to ensure transition from high level requirements to implementation as well as ensuring architecture, solution intent and design fit with the existing application portfolio during integration activities

  • Creates an innovation culture lead by the capabilities of the organization and its surrounding processes

  • Leads and participates in the evaluation of new packaged software for the company that drives enterprise transformation

  • Evaluates alternatives, establish priorities, and formulate decisions that affect all aspects of the operation

  • Conducts business plan development including data collection, analysis, reporting, budgeting along with ROI modeling for potential solutions

Required Qualifications:

  • 8 + years of Business architecture experience

  • 5 + years of package application integration leadership experience

  • 5 + years of supplier (IT and Business) contract management experience including a demonstrated ability to drive successful performance

  • 5 + years of formal application development experience with a demonstrated understanding of software engineering, algorithms, design issues, design patterns, and application integration technologies

  • Cross functional team management experience

  • Application portfolio rationalization and retirement experience

  • Experience with requirements development at the strategic and tactical levels

  • Applications architecture and strategy experience

  • Working knowledge of agile development lifecycle principles and methodologies

  • Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to act as both a strategic and tactical leader

  • Demonstrated ability to establish clear support for long term best practice behaviors while recognizing the short term need to bring others with you on the vision of a highly reliable operation

  • Demonstrated ability to hire, plan, listen, organize, set department objectives, interpret, provide work direction, coach, counsel, train and conduct performance reviews

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others indirectly, team members, peers and support resources

  • Demonstrated ability to create an innovation culture lead by the capabilities of the organization and its surrounding processes

  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to see larger business objective and translate into functional strategies and tactics

  • Healthcare industry, agency sales, and digital marketing knowledge
