Description

This position executes the external, internal, and atmospheric corrosion control program for an assigned area of responsibility. Performs Corrosion Technician responsibilities with minimal supervision and is expected to have an advanced knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and mitigation techniques. Must be versed in all aspects of corrosion control and must be adept at resolving complex corrosion issues. Must utilize knowledge in support of and provide detailed training to other company personnel.

This position is also responsible for project management of corrosion control projects. Key job responsibilities include following Project Life Cycle which includes, managing projects through all phases of planning, estimating, forecasting, construction, and implementation. In addition, this position is responsible for preparing detailed job descriptions, preparing construction contracts, soliciting and evaluating bids, requisitioning material, supervising construction activities, preparing project status reports, managing financial forecast. This person must also coordinate drafting efforts, interpret construction drawings, approve invoices, and ensure the timely completion of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cathodic protection and atmospheric corrosion control surveys.

  • Test, adjust, and maintain existing cathodic protection equipment and testing facilities.

  • Project management of corrosion control projects referenced above in Job Summary.

  • Analyze/evaluate corrosion control data and develop/implement plan of action.

  • Maintain and update corrosion control record.

  • Design and inspect the installation of new cathodic protection equipment and testing facilities.

  • Represent the company on external matters pertaining to corrosion control including requests for bonds, interference testing, etc.

  • Analyze corrosion related failures and/or changes to the system and recommend/implement corrective action; and train and assist company personnel in matters related to corrosion control. Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • NACE Certification required

  • 2-4 years of industry experience required

Additional requirements: Regular attendance; the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English with co- workers, supervisors, internal and external customers; the ability to work in stressful conditions; the ability to adapt and respond in changing circumstances; the ability to use a personal computer with the Windows(R) operating system to complete time sheets, send and receive email, and access information posted on the Company's intranet; availability as needed to work on both a scheduled and call-out basis; and the ability to work at the assigned job site.
