Position Description

What does a great Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Senior do?

Card Services is looking for hardworking individual to join our Digital AppOps team to provide support for flagship platforms i.e. Client Central and Integrated Desktop. You must demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills with focus on distributed digital systems. You will also need to exercise strong communication, organizational and customer service skills. Attention to detail is also a requirement for this critical Card Services AppOps role. The ability to not only work in teams, but to lead result driven teams during application outage situations. The ability to think tactically as well as strategically and to articulate your expectations to a mixed team of engineers, senior level developers and vendor support engineers is critical to the success in this role. In addition to these important skills, it is imperative that the candidate, Digital can summarize technical issues relating to software implementation, function and upgrades and to prepare written and verbal updates to senior level management.

Card Services has embarked on transformation journey with key investment on APIs, Mobile, Cloud(AWS, Azure) as well as Kafka/SPARC technologies. The candidates will have opportunity to play key role in adoption/implementation of these technologies on behalf of AppOps organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technology leadership in a tightly integrated fintech eco-systems, which incorporates integrations from mainframe to unix and windows web / application servers, and Database Servers.

  • Active participation in agile (Scrum) deployment team activities

  • Partnering with business and technical SMEs to understand relevant data, analyze and perform necessary deep dive to solve given business problem, summarize and present key findings

  • Review and approve release deployment instructions

  • Research and recommend application monitoring opportunities and enhancements

  • Contribute to the division’s software process improvement practices by active participation in application design and enhancement review sessions driven by application development

  • Building global Hybrid-cloud based support delivery teams.

  • Learning and mastering the debit card processing business domain and our systems

Basic Qualifications for Consideration :

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems, or equivalent

  • 5 to 8 years of IT experience in a SRE or equivalent with background in Unix/Linux or operations support with hands-on using Java J2EE, Hibernate, JPA, Springs and Struts

  • Strong technical experience with Unix/Linux, Apache, and either WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss, Coherence

  • Experience with shell scripting, Sed, and AWK

  • Hands-on knowledge of Oracle, and using SQLPLUS

  • Experience with Azure, AWS and Hybrid based support model.

  • Strong understanding of multi-tier architecture and infrastructure configurations

  • Familiarity with common networking practices

  • Must have full life-cycle development experience in a large financial services firm

  • Analytical problem-solving skills to solve complex problems and independent judgement to identify problems and recommend solutions

  • Experienced in creating dashboard for Splunk/App dynamics/ExtraHop.

  • Experienced in Agile and DevOps environments and cultures.

  • Certifications: Knowledge of ITIL production support best practices

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • 5+ years’ experience with distributed technologies and systems.

  • 3+ years’ experience with Collaboration platforms such as JIRA, Confluence, Wiki, Version one

  • Prior experience with Kafka

  • Exposure to Automation technologies / tools and willingness to master and implement new solutions.

  • Willingness to learn and maintain legacy applications

  • Prior experience in Financial Services industries.
