Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a world-leading manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN for its Pasadena SMR facility and Houston Area Satellite facilities located in Pasadena and Mont Belvieu, TX.
The facilities consist of a steam methane reformer, H2 compressor station, and two chemical off-gas units. The Operations Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the equipment and facilities. The position will be based out of the Pasadena SMR facility and travel to the satellite facilities for operational support during the shift.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Participate in the basic safety process sharing responsibility for the sites’ overall safety performance.
Provide day-to-day operation of the plant to support the plant on-stream, production and reliability targets.
Provide hands on support as required to troubleshoot problems as they occur.
Maintain water chemistry, perform daily operational tasks, and preventative maintenance as required
Pay very close attention to details and execute work to the highest possible standard.
Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands-on support as required during shutdowns.
Follow Operating procedures.
Promote safety rules and regulations and adhere to all lone worker policies
Qualifications / Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Commitment to safety and integrity
Teammate that is flexible and has a positive attitude
Experience in operations, maintenance, or monitoring of industrial plants. Certificate of process technology a plus
Ability to work and 10-hour shift position with on-call requirements and local travel
Must be a self-starter and willing to work alone.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills a plus
Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
Elevated work required.
Technical School Graduates: Students with a background in Industrial Systems, Machine Tool Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Automotive Technology, HVAC, Process Technology, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation Technology are encouraged to apply.
