Job Introduction:

Hosting Services Applications Environments is an outcome-aligned organization which is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of all compute environments including mainframe, traditional midrange, IaaS, PaaS and Public Cloud. This position is in the Transaction, Messaging and Database (TMD) Support team which is part of the Data Platforms group. The TMD team is responsible for all Teleprocessing systems (CICS, IMS), mainframe database (DB2), automation, and the cross systems messaging system (MQ). The CICS System Administrators within this team are exposed to many different technologies that operate on the mainframe as well as internal and external cloud environments.

*About the job: *

  • Provides CICS administration, operational support and problem resolution for large systems.

  • Implements CICS and 3rdparty-related software upgrades, maintenance, and customization.

  • Monitors CICS system performance and capacity; reports changes in usage.

  • Troubleshoots software problems, takes appropriate corrective action and/or interacts with IT staff or vendors in performing complex testing, support and troubleshooting functions.

  • Participates in site set-up, user training, hardware/software installation, maintenance and support and documentation of hardware/software logs and operating procedures.

  • Performs basic user administration (adds, changes, deletes, disk space management, backups and file restores).

  • Documents standards and operating procedures for a large based system and acts as a technical resource to the IT staff and systems users.

  • Leads projects or subprojects including developing project plans, assigning tasks and facilitating team process.

  • Consults on complex technical issues.

  • Depicts highly complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences.

  • Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Desired skills:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Mainframe CICS systems administration.

  • Requires knowledge of the operating environment - technologies span mainframe, midrange, desktop, server, network data, voice, messaging, web, database and output/receiving.

  • Solid z/OS foundation, solid knowledge of CICS domain architecture and interfaces

  • Strong consultative and communication skills, analytical ability, judgment and the ability to work effectively with client and other systems technical staff, consultants and vendors.

  • Extensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies.

  • General knowledge of business functions and business operations.

  • Some level of experience in any of the following are a plus:


o Compuware AbendAid-CICS and Xpediter-CICS

o CICS web service architecture and implementation

o MQ, IMS, DB2

o BMC Mainview / AutoOperator

o SAS/MXG SMF collection and reporting
