Job Description

The Director, Data Rich Measurements (DRM) Lead is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership for analytical capabilities across our Analytical Research & Development organization’s development network, with a focus on Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) and high throughput analytical and experimentation platforms. This includes a range of techniques, including chromatography, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy capabilities with an emphasis on both enabling speed of experimentation and realizing richer data sets from process experiments. Further, this role is responsible for invention of new enabling platforms and technologies to benefit partners across analytical research, process development, and manufacturing.

The Director reports to the Executive Director, Analytical Enabling Technologies and will be directly responsible for a team of 10-15 senior scientists. The position is accountable for delivering analytical methodologies and platforms that may accelerate the pace of process research and influence manufacturing capabilities and regulatory frameworks across our vaccines, biologics, and small molecule portfolios. The successful candidate must be able to collaborate in a dynamic, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment which reaches from discovery research to commercialization. The incumbent must have the ability to set strategy and drive implementation of novel capabilities across our organization.

The incumbent will be responsible for the recruiting, appraisal and development of personnel under her/his supervision. The Director selects, trains, and effectively recommends transfers, merit increases, promotions, and closures of personnel under her/his direction within the framework of Company policy. The role will also be responsible for proactive resourcing planning, risk assessment strategies and budget management as necessary.

Maintaining a strong external network across the academic community is expected, as well as advancing an internal culture of scientific excellence and collaboration, and this will be a core responsibility for the role. Education Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Analytical Research or a related field with 7 years of industry experience

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Creative problem-solving in scientific research

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Demonstrated capability to lead people and cross-functional teams

  • Strength in delivering results on firm deadlines in support of pharmaceutical discovery and development
