Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Dynamics Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in Redondo Beach, CA.

As a Dynamics Engineer - Vibroacoustics you will:

  • Generate vibroacoustic environmental criteria, perform vibroacoustic analysis, provide qualification & certification guidance

  • S upport sub-system qualification, test planning and execution, post-test data reduction, FEM correlation & tuning, result reporting

  • Lead the definition, analysis, and application of structural design criteria and resulting airframe dynamic loads for a wide range of aerospace technology development programs, from concept to prototype testing, production & sustainment

  • Be responsible to build consensus through peer and SME review, with effective communication of analysis & test approach and results with internal and external customers.

  • Be an proficient user of commercial software such as NASTRAN, FEMAP, and MATLAB for modal analysis, frequency response, random vibration, shock response spectrum, and data post-processing


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution with 2 years of experience in Aerospace, OR Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution

  • Professional experience in the development of aircraft vibroacoustic environments, performing dynamic analysis, support of qualification test planning & execution

  • Experience utilizing software including FEMAP, NASTRAN, and Matlab

  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances:

  • Dept of Defense Secret level with a background investigation date within 10 years

  • OR Dept of Energy L clearance with a background investigation date within 10 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or closely related field

  • Experience supporting flight tests or working with dynamic flight test data

  • Experience in defining environmental criteria, or ECD document

  • Familiarity with environmental Mil-standards (eg. 810G)

  • Programming proficiency in FORTRAN, C, Python, or MATLAB

  • Effective communication skills, written & verbal, required for working with multi-disciplinary teams and providing guidance to internal & external customers
