Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Software Engineer Discipline Lead. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

What You'll Get To Do:

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Establishing a Software Engineering Community of Practice

  • Identifying training requirements for Communities of Practice

  • Work and coordinate with SMEs, Process, and other Discipline Leads for both process development, training and implementation

  • Support and/or coordinate annual certificate coordination for COP/discipline population

  • Lead the effort to identify and coordinate technical training, seminars, and other employee development activities.

  • Responsible for supporting process lead and training development in any capacity necessary, as it relates to the functional discipline, in order to execute program tasks and meet program goals

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 14 Years of experience with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD.

  • Detailed knowledge of the Software Development Lifecyle

  • Experience leading large teams of software engineers

  • Experience in Agile SW Development methods and technologies.

  • Broad experience designing, programming, and implementing large information systems.

  • Familiarity with the Atlassian Suite of Tools.

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance (clearance not required to start)

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Active Secret Clearance with a re-investigation date in the last 5 years.

  • Detailed and team oriented with demonstrated leadership and organization skills

  • Skilled at solving unique problems and making sound engineering decisions

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency, ownership of tasks and accountability
