What would you be doing in this role?

*Administers therapy modalities as ordered by physician. *Performs all aspects of mechanical ventilators (initiation, operation, monitoring, etc.). *Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis. *Responds to code blue situations for assigned areas. *Assists in transport of ventilator and critically ill patients. *Verifies physician orders prior to therapy treatment. *Gives through, accurate report to oncoming staff at shift end. *Enters all patient contacts into appropriate system. *Performs equipment rounds. *Assists with new employee orientation and continuing education as assigned. *Serves as preceptor as assigned. *Initiates and documents patient/family teaching using appropriate system

*QUALIFICATIONS *

REQUIRED: • State of VA Respiratory Care Practitioner License • BLS • Respiratory Therapy Degree – AAS or BS

PREFERRED: • One year adult critical care experience. • Previous experience with mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis and oximetry. • ACLS
