This hands-on role within the Clinical Engineering team represents a unique opportunity to operate within a highly focused preclinical studies group to coordinate procedures and assist in performing studies to support the development of Ethicon’s highly innovative digital surgery platform. To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and skill in preclinical study protocol development and writing, as well as organizing, conducting and documenting preclinical GLP and non-GLP studies.

Responsibilities:

• Writing and collaborating with others in the development of preclinical GLP and non-GLP study protocols

• Coordinate, organize, conduct, document, and report preclinical GLP and non-GLP research studies

• Organizing and tracking of preclinical study documents, including protocols, data, training records and GLP program documents

• Working cross-functionally with the Quality department to maintain the preclinical GLP program

• Developing, revising and editing SOPs in support of the GLP program

• Organizing and tracking GLP training for colleagues

• Supporting procedure and model development activities in the preclinical lab

• Operate under IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee) approved protocols to support development of medical devices

• Understand and follow GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) regulations

• Essential understanding of clinical anatomy and surgical methods to support in procedure development and communication with other members of the pre-clinical team and cross-functional groups

• Occasionally support and assist in in vivo and cadaveric research procedures

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required

• 3+ years of experience in preclinical research is required

• Knowledge and understanding of GLP regulations and GLP compliant preclinical studies is required

• Experience writing GLP SOPs and study protocols is required

• Experience in GLP study conduct is required

• Ability to work independently is required

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills is required

• Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented approach are essential

• Attention to detail is essential

• Must be able to have a flexible schedule, with early start times

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds

• Ability to travel approximately 20% is required

Preferred:

• Technical experience working in the preclinical operating room is highly desirable

• AALAS certification or willingness to obtain is desirable

• Familiarity with large animal medical device research environment is preferred

• Experience with large animals is preferred, but not required
