Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily activities of all UTAS Landing Systems, including Harmonized Tariff Classification, Country of Origin, and Valuation

  • Coordinates with third party providers (freight forwarders, Customs Brokers) that handle the Company’s imports/ exports and provide clearance instructions to facilitate the release of import/export shipments

  • Comprehension of INCO Terms and ability to educate and execute total landed cost to provide the business with trade related data to support informed decisions

  • Analyze import data to support the UTAS’s Duty mitigation program by qualifying products for preferential treatment

  • Assist in preparing formal responses to governmental or other regulatory audits/inquiries

  • Support annual U.S. Customs reconciliation activities

  • Remain up to date on current events, such as being able to analyze changing tariffs resulting from changes in the preferential duty programs or additional tariffs that may be levied from time to time. This to include changes in economic status as a result of actions like Brexit

  • Review business practices, draft or improve ITC procedures, and develop instructional guidelines (particular emphasis on handling controlled technical data in an environment with foreign nationals)

  • Conduct periodic compliance training and answer day-to-day compliance questions

  • Serve as a location subject matter expert for export commodity Jurisdiction and classification for UTAS Landing Systems; commodities, technical data, technology, services processes, tooling and software pursuant to, all applicable Export/Import Laws and Regulations and following UTC and UTAS guidelines

  • Provide guidance to the business functional teams regarding technical data marking, reporting and other administrative requirements

  • Provide technical interpretation of the scope of export authorizations and Technology Control Plans (TCP)

  • Supply technical support to the ITC investigations team

  • Site Lead responsibilities for our Santa Fe Springs – Carbon facility and a local MRO facility including but not limited to visitor management, facility control plans, etc.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ITAR (Intl Traffics and Arms Regulations)

  • Knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

  • 3 + years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Foreign Trade Zone Administration

  • Experience with U.S. Customs reconciliation program

  • Licensed Customs Broker or willingness to obtain in the future

  • Customs and/or Foreign Trade Regulations

  • Experience in the Aerospace Industry

  • Experience with SAP, Team Center, Matrix and Microsoft Office

  • Experience with Foreign Trade Zone Administration
