Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Test/Validation Engineer to work in the Machine Testing and Endurance department based at our Malaga Demonstration & Learning Center (MDLC) in Southern Spain. The Machine Testing and Endurance Department tests products, components, and systems to support the Caterpillar Product Groups and Marketing Organizations during the design, development and research process.

When you join the Team Caterpillar as a Senior Test/Validation Engineer, you will interact with people from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds within different Business Units all over the world and create strong relations.

Key activities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform instrumented tests, measuring various external and internal channels of earthmoving machines

  • Data reduction and understanding

  • Evaluate software

  • Document processes and tasks

  • Change software and configurations

  • Evaluate new products, processes, or systems

  • Communicate results to product groups, suppliers, team members, and other business units

  • Contribute to the design of new products and processes

  • Support other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers, and suppliers

  • Support in troubleshooting procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum plus 1 to 2 years of relevant engineering experience (or) Masters or Doctorate degree

  • Experience in instrumented tests using test equipment like eDAQ and/or Dewesoft or similar

  • Knowledge in instrumented tests using test equipment like CANape

  • Practice of data reduction and understanding

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Exhibited ability to begin working independently and have demonstrated ability to apply theory and concept

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to work in teams

  • Solid understanding of the process to design, develop and/or research products, components and/or systems

  • (Hands on) Test Engineer

  • English (fluent)

  • Ability to travel 40%

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Caterpillar technical machine and engine knowledge

  • Excellent machine/engine troubleshooting experience

  • Experience on machine guidance systems (2D/3D)

  • Spanish language
