UnitedHealth Group Sr. Business Analyst - Telecommute in Schaumburg, Illinois

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage/lead, conduct, create, control, improve outcomes of end-to-end business processes

  • Lead and support the Subrogation, Medicare Reclamation/Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) process, as well as general claims and technical support to the billing entities, claims processing team and other business partners

  • Understand basics of transaction monitoring (e.g., claims processing; eligibility transactions; customer installation)

  • Lead and participate in process design and project implementation teams for operational efficiencies, effectiveness and process improvement activities leading to recommended solutions following internal processes and methodologies including potential impacts and risks

  • Partner with applicable stakeholders to identify the operational impact of identified improvements within defined solutions (e.g., changes to policies/processes/procedures, compliance with applicable legal/regulatory requirements, additional requirements)

  • Support ongoing operations/maintenance/enhancement of existing solutions, in partnership with applicable stakeholders (e.g., IT, business owners/ partners, vendors)

  • Ensure that identified solutions meet business requirements for all applicable stakeholders

  • Analyze business process information (e.g., metrics; analytics) to identify key issues, trends, and potential root causes that point to improvement opportunities

  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders (e.g., business owners, process owners, domain experts) to identify specific business requirements

  • Obtain needed resources (e.g., different functional teams; subject matter experts; internal and/or external stakeholders) to implement business solutions

  • Collaborate with technology stakeholders (e.g., System Analysts, architects) and project team members to communicate business and technical requirements to create detailed requirements documents and ensure the project requirements are clearly and comprehensively documented, understood and support traceability. Update as required on an ongoing basis through project/workflow design and implementation

  • Identify and/or establish appropriate testing metrics/targets and lead, conduct and support relevant testing (e.g., pre-production; user acceptance; post-production) to validate processes are working as designed to include communication and identification of defects and/or facilitate appropriate adjustments

  • Plan/execute user testing scenarios/scripts and prepare test data and translate problems/issues identified during the testing/piloting process, and engage the appropriate stakeholders to help identify impact and potential solutions. Validate usability of technical solutions prior to deployment

  • Provide input into and/or develop relevant policies, procedures, and/or work tools to support new or updated business processes

  • Create ad hoc and quality reporting, analysis and audits for developing plans and programs to support continuous quality improvement and monitor on-going progress of business processes to identify potential challenges, risks, and/or defects.

  • Assist in the creation, implementation and evaluation of Total Quality Management (TQM) programs

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 2+ years of claims processing experience within RxClaim including claim adjudication, eligibility review, and understanding payment outcomes, subrogation/reclamation experience or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience with business analysis and process improvement

  • 2+ years of specific experience with documenting processes and practices

  • 2+ years of experience using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (intermediate or better proficiency)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration or related field

  • 1+ years of experience using MS Access, MS Project and MS Visio (intermediate or better proficiency)

  • Excellent planning and execution skills. Meticulous and methodical, detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to dive deep and ask the right questions

  • Excellent communication and time/project management skills, solid problem solving ability and analytical skills, ability to think big picture

  • Batch claims processing knowledge

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
