This position is field based and can be situated in geographies that allow for necessary business travel to assigned Specialty Pharmacy locations, as well as the South San Francisco office.

The Janssen U.S. Pharmacy Access Team – within Janssen Market Access, works with internal and external partners to develop, shape, implement and optimize the programs and services that are delivered via our best-in-class, PH specialized network. Our specialty Pharmacies are essential partners who share in our commitment to patients with PAH and their providers.
This position provides essential input related to the Rare Disease Specialty Pharmacy Network strategy. They are a key contributor to criteria for inclusion/exclusion selection for pharmacies specific to current as well as future products.
The Pharmacy Access Account Director will serve as the central point of contact between Actelion and our specialty pharmacy providers. He or she will collaborate with program owners to achieve an aligned vision for the program as well as feasibility for delivery by SPs.
This individual will provide account management and customer interface responsibilities on behalf of The Janssen Pharmaceuticals Family of Companies, specifically Actelion, to develop and maintain strategic business relationships. This individual is responsible for continuously analyzing and assessing key data metrics to identify positive and negative trends related to the patient journey experience. In addition, he or she will present CAC approved material that represents specific brand business needs and engage pharmacy providers in an effort to identify insights through compliant, solution-oriented based discussions. The Account Director, Pharmacy Access, is also responsible for negotiating and contracting fee-for-service (FFS) arrangements, data optimization agreements, contractual amendments and renewals with select health care customers such as specialty pharmacy providers (SP) and hospital systems. This individual will not be responsible for engaging in activities involving product formulary placement or pricing concessions.
The position reports to the Director of Pharmacy Access, who is aligned to support Market Access departmental needs. In addition, he/she will partner with the Program Directors/Managers and Operating Company (OpCo) Brand Directors/Managers.
Key Areas of Focus:
Act as channel lead and Actelion key point of contact to targeted pharmacy accounts in the specialty and retail channels, demonstrating strong stakeholder management and executive presence competencies
Build and compliantly demonstrate business relationships with a broad set of partners within targeted pharmacy accounts
Collaborate with brand partners across the Actelion rare disease portfolio to understand brand strategic priorities and effectively communicate brand needs to targeted pharmacy accounts
Compliantly engage with specialty pharmacy accounts in effort to identify potential fee-for-service (FFS) opportunities that specifically address brand needs to improve patient experience
Facilitate Specialty Pharmacy Business Reviews to identify business insights, trends in patient journey experiences, associated process challenges, patient access and adherence to therapy
Coordinate with cross-functional business partners to ensure appropriate review and approvals for all activities and FFS agreements
Coordinate with brand and internal partners to ensure proof of services under FFS contracts and compliance with agreement and SOP requirements
Engage targeted accounts in contractual negotiations and amendments related to FFS agreements, data optimization agreements, sales compensation data agreements, sponsored communications and other service arrangements
Act as channel lead and engage cross-functional teams to ensure perfection in new product launches, line extension introductions and corresponding contractual requirements
Develop account level plans, with full alignment to Actelion commercial and/or brand goals, that enable effective and efficient pharmacy account management. Should include key stakeholders, unique capabilities
Track contract and service performance and provide appropriate pull through activities
Ensures compliant separation of FFS agreements from other customer activities from a Company field perspective
Attends appropriate customer conferences and trade shows to further inform understanding of healthcare ecosystem opportunities that support Janssen business interests regarding product information and/or outcomes
Identify and cultivate important relationships with customers, partners, stakeholders and other influencers both internally and externally
Think creatively about account and product opportunities and develops strategies and tactics as needed
Ensure they meet or exceed assigned targets, goals and objectives for assigned accounts
Act in complete & total compliance with all laws, regulations and policies
Represent Actelion’s PH franchise to the highest ethical and professional standards and in accordance with guidelines, strategic direction and key brand marketing
Utilize only approved resources and messages to meet goals and targets
Serve as a resource to the internal partners for problem solving or thought partnership
Bachelor’s Degree is required, MBA or other related graduate level degree preferred
8 – 10 years of healthcare experience is required
Market Access experience is preferred
5+ years of specialty pharmacy account management preferred
Understanding Medicare, Medicaid, VA/DOD/IHS and private payer initiatives affecting reimbursement of pharmaceutical and biotechnology products is preferred
Rare Disease or Pulmonary Hypertension experience preferred
Experience successfully negotiating contracts is preferred
Understanding of quality measurement systems is preferred
Thorough understanding of patient and pharmacy access operations and where collaboration results in patient benefits is preferred
Advanced understanding of vendors and tactics in the healthcare industry
Strong quantitative skills with the ability to design KPI’s, develop the supporting metrics, and monitor performance.
Analytical/problem-solving skills with ability to understand business and financial implications of complex pre- and post-contract analytics, FMV process, and restrictions.
Significant experience working with top specialty pharmacies and/or PBMs is preferred
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license issued in the United States and must successfully complete a background investigation, to include a review of driving record history
This position is a field-based position. This position requires significant travel (up to 70%) including required meetings and training, overnight and occasional weekends.
