Job Summary

Under general supervision, uses knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to help meet the Carillon Management Team i) identify, evaluate and execute asset management M&A opportunities, ii) develop and research strategic growth opportunities, and iii) analyze, budget and report financial results. Responsible for performing qualitative and quantitative research on the asset management industry and potential target companies; assisting with technical financial analyses; and preparing and contributing to material for both Carillon and Raymond James executives. In each of these areas this position will work closely with Carillon's Head of Corporate Development and Strategy and the Carillon Management Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform in depth company research and analysis on prospective business acquisitions in the asset management industry

  • Assist in the development of short-term and long-term strategic planning projects including but not limited to five year planning, budgeting, and new business opportunities

  • Analyze Carillon’s financial statements, report and provide commentary on period ending results, track financial results versus budget, and model the impact of proposed business decisions

  • Build in depth valuation analysis of acquisition targets and comparable firms

  • Monitor daily news on companies strategically significant to Carillon

  • Build a framework for and execute upon tracking of competitive intelligence from company financial filings, financial media and analyst coverage

  • Highlight and communicate key themes verbally and in writing to relevant internal audiences

  • Support due diligence efforts through basic project management support

  • Assist in creating executive-level presentations and communications

  • Deliver timely analysis of research with minimal support

  • Lead ad hoc strategic projects

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Intermediate understanding and interest in financial markets and products

  • Fluency in financial statement analysis

  • Analytical ability to provide insight into links in information and ability to communicate key points

  • Knowledge of fundamental investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the securities industry

  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of valuation theory, financial markets, and financial statement analysis is preferred

  • Familiarity with market databases, public filings, and other sources of market and company-level information is preferred

Skill in

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Building project plans and creating/maintaining project management tools

  • Exercise initiative and problem solving skills to independently resolve issues

  • Structured, logical thinker

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral; must be comfortable working with people at multiple levels

  • Proven financial modeling and valuation skills, including cash flow and comparable analyses is preferred

  • Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience with independently researching, interpreting, and synthesizing publicly available information in order to clearly summarize key data and facts

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Progress toward an MBA and/or Chartered Financial Analyst designation is highly preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or other quantitative discipline. Distinguished academic credentials highly desired. However, accomplished liberal arts and science majors to be considered.

  • 5 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, investment management or other positions requiring analytical rigor and effective communication of ideas to senior leadership
