BAE Systems Logistics Configuration Analyst in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world s largest defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 company, is seeking a full-time Principle Configuration Analyst to work within the Logistics Team for Combat Mission Systems. This position is based out of Sterling Heights, Michigan and is an excellent growth opportunity for the right individual.

In this fast-paced, dynamic position, the ideal candidate will be forward-looking, well organized and able to work multiple projects and platforms, have a strong understanding of the configuration management process and be able to apply that knowledge to Logistics products. The candidate will be able to define the current configuration of a Logistics product, determine what and when changes need to occur on the product, then be able to manage the change to the product, working with the Logistics Team to do so. This position requires direct work and effective communication with Logistics internal and external customers in order to plan, document, and status configuration in order to help the team accomplish project goals and meet deadlines. As such, the candidate must be a professional individual who is able to work with a diverse team of individuals as well as independently within that team. The candidate will need to be able to read and assess engineering/manufacturing drawings, engineering changes, problem reports, and technical documentation for combat vehicles. The candidate will also promote commonality across platform products, working directly with the Logistics Commonality Project Leads and passing information to the programs and functional areas as appropriate.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly responsible for providing strategizing/managing configuration of Logistics Products (Operator/maintenance manuals, illustrated parts books, parts provisioning) through program phases and milestones.

  • Reviews engineering drawings, proposed/approved engineering changes, determines impact, and provides guidance to the Logistics Team on what changes and when changes will need to be implanted (assists with tracking and planning).

  • Works with same drawings and changes to determine if issues or problems exist that could prevent implementation into Logistics combat vehicle products. Documents and reports problems as necessary.

  • Works directly with engineering and vendors to obtain required technical data and information to provide to internal Logistics customers.

  • Maintains detailed tracking documentation on configuration, configuration requirements, and current status.

  • Provides regular and accurate updates to the programs and other stakeholders regarding configuration status, risk and risk mitigation recommendations.

  • Attends and participates in program/Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings as needed, working with internal/external customers to provide configuration status and requirements, commonality information and develops strong relationships with key internal/external personnel to accomplish Logistics project goals.

  • Provides internal and external influence to design of vehicle platform and its components to improve maintenance supportability and commonality of those platforms. Supports Logistics products through design influence in vehicle platforms and the platform s Technical Data Package.

  • Attends and participates in Logistic Team and Maintenance/Commonality Team meetings, actively assists in developing the Team SharePoint site.

  • Supports development of Basis of Estimates (BOEs) in response to Request for Proposals (RFPs).

  • Provides input and assists in development of Logistics Business Management Systems (BMS) processes.

  • Promotes a safe, inclusive, and ethical work environment, following BAE Systems Code of Conduct.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor s degree and 6 years of experience in a military or defense environment; or Relevant Associate s degree and 8 years of experience in a military or defense environment; or relevant configuration and project management experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

  • Knowledge of configuration management process, Army maintenance concepts, DoD Lifecycle Management, and Integrated Product Support.

  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects to include preventative maintenance.

  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, strong interpersonal skills, ability to read engineering drawings.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience with Military Standards and Army Regulations (e.g., Mil-Std-40051-1/2, AR700-127, AR 700-82, AR750-1, AR 25-30, etc.)

  • Experience working on government contracts, government personnel, sub-contractors, and third-party vendors.
