Job Description:

Caterpillar’s Global Construction and Infrastructure division has an exciting opening working within aftermarket services as a Technical Representative. Working hands-on with customers and dealers, our Technical Representatives provide customer and dealer support on Caterpillar machines. They represent Caterpillar face to face, reviewing and resolving customer needs onsite and within Caterpillar dealer facilities. Technical aptitude partnered with strong decision making and customer service skills is this role’s key to success! What will you do?

In this role, you will be on the frontline of supporting our network of dealers and customers. Cultivating strong customer and dealer relationships and using sound logic, you’ll be responsible for executing decisions on behalf of Caterpillar to ensure superb customer and dealer experience.

  • Represent Caterpillar at customer and dealer sites to understand customer needs and machine applications and performance

  • Travel to dealer locations frequently (up to 50%) to consult on product performance within assigned territory (Florida)

  • Exercise strong decision-making skills, making judgements on complex products

  • Determine appropriate levels of support required for customer experience and peak product performance

  • Apply decisions to support and develop product sales, dealer effectiveness, overall segment growth and process improvements

  • Help dealers achieve higher service quality working with industry reps to develop total customer solutions

  • Work with Service Specialists to ensure dealers meet targets for Customer Satisfaction

  • Liaison with Product Support Managers and Support Engineers

  • Educate/train dealers on Caterpillar product technical specifications

How You’ll be Successful (Basic Qualifications)

  • 7+ years of experience in product engineering, preferably within the construction industry

  • Working knowledge of Caterpillar and Caterpillar Dealer network

  • Ability to travel to dealer and customer locations up to 50% of the time in assigned territory

  • Technical aptitude and strong computer software skills to work in a suite of online Caterpillar systems

  • Ability to read engineering designs

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Strong time management and organization skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively effectively and respectfully

  • Willingness to contribute to Caterpillar’s culture and uphold company core values

Additional Skills for Success (Desired Qualifications)

  • Experience with PowerBI

  • Knowledge and/or experience working with dealerships and dealer networks in service engineering capacity

  • Knowledge and understanding of how CAT machines operate
