Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies is recruiting for a Director, Robotics & Digital Solutions and Strategic Communications to be located at a J&J facility in California or New Jersey.

This role is responsible for the overall global communications strategy to advance JJMD’s reputation as a leader in med tech innovation as well as designing and executing an engagement strategy to establish and progress Robotics and Digital Solutions’ business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a business narrative that encompasses robotics and digital advancements across JJMD to tell a comprehensive future of med tech innovation story. Create a suite of storytelling materials for internal and external use.

  • Develop proactive and reactive media relations strategy for robotics/digital innovation, in partnership with Media Relations team

  • Build excitement for GLOBAL innovation story, working in collaboration with Global Franchise and R&D communications team members through:

  • Identify the right channels and leverage senior leaders to drive thought leadership messaging on the future of medical intervention, and J&J’s robotics/digital strategy and pipeline, including media, analysts, social media and at critical medical meetings.

  • Drive platform employee alignment, engagement, and inspiration through initiatives

  • Responsible for development and execution of strategic executive communications for the Head, Robotics & Digital Solutions to engage and inspire cross-functional platform teams

  • Build JJMD’s reputation as the place to be for top robotics/digital talent, in partnership with Talent Acquisition

  • Develop global external strategies and integrated communication plans aligned to Franchise platform priorities to increase positive share of voice and enhance reputation

  • Protect brand and reputation as platform lead on issues management and crisis communications, consulting with sector and enterprise leaders, as appropriate



  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required.


  • A minimum of 10 years of related experience is required.

  • Experience managing large-scale global communications efforts is required.

  • Ability to measure business impact for public relations programs is required.

  • Ability to manage agency partners and oversee budget is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous situations and influence is required.

  • Experience managing multiple priorities in fast-paced, matrixed environment is required.

  • Experience with both external, commercially-driven communications (i.e. media relations, product communications, branding) is required.


  • Experience with internal communications (i.e. employee engagement, executive communications) is preferred.

  • Current or previous experience working in highly-regulated environment and a demonstrated understanding of regional health authorities is preferred.

  • Current or previous experience in healthcare is preferred


Travel of up to 30% may be required.
