Job Description

Our Support Functions deliver services and make recommendations about ways to enhance our workplace and the culture of our organization. Our Support Functions include HR, Finance, Information Technology, Legal, Procurement, Administration, Facilities and Security.

Our Sourcing team partner with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.

The Vice President (VP), Direct Materials Sourcing & Procurement, is a key member of both the company’s Global Supplier Management and Manufacturing Leadership teams. Serving as the manufacturing procurement head, the VP is accountable for all Global direct materials, Capital, Engineering/Construction services, Packaging and External Manufacturing spend categories, as well as steering the site / regional operations procurement functions.

The VP holds functional management of end‐to‐end operating units, based on technology platforms and streamlining accountability and decision‐making to enable:

Core elements enabling success in the role:

  • Develop robust sourcing strategies that link to core business deliverables while leveraging the marketplace and supplier community. Execute a supplier resource management program that builds a sourcing management pipeline, ensures alignment with key stakeholders, and ensures compliance with existing sourcing strategies.

  • Adopt, lead, and implement sourcing management as a structured process, including sponsorship development and creation and leadership of cross-functional teams.

  • Create breakthrough strategies which both deliver quick wins and genuine long-term innovative breakthroughs. Adopt high quality change practices with customers and stakeholders. Build and implement an organization which is sustainable.

  • Drive sourcing management as a structured process. Once approval is received for sourcing strategies, oversee the sourcing execution (including RFX, RFP, risk mitigation activities, negotiations, and contracting) with the right suppliers. Drive dedication to sourcing rigor across the function. Ensure compliance to global sourcing processes and governance structures.

  • Manage procurement resources (both headcount and expense budget). Drive cost reductions. Ensure adherence to all key performance metrics (savings, working capital, supplier diversity development, etc.), profit plan preparation, monitoring, and submission.

  • Provide day to day direction, project focus, and drive execution outcomes for the function. Build a high performing team that operates as a key internal business partner. Focus on employee inclusion, engagement development, and delegation with accountability.

  • Where appropriate, manage supplier relationships around the world. Be the worldwide point of contact for global relationships that are complex and difficult to manage. Expand external relationships and spend with diverse suppliers.

  • Ensure that every supplier relationship is established with intent of future continuous improvement. Drive and manage the measurement and review process to ensure delivery of expectations. Implement supplier value management with the key suppliers to foster innovation, manage supplier performance, and establish appropriate governance model.

  • Build a core team of highly qualified professionals who have direct accountability for global spend management, Category Management, and implementation / execution.

  • Work in a way that positively engages the support of business colleagues using problem solving and proactive communication skills.

  • Partner with functional areas such as manufacturing (Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Technology, etc.), Global Services, Finance and Global Quality amongst others. Build a high-performance engagement model with the business and regions.

  • Be a leader by example and practice, embodying the company standards and values.

  • Actively support diversity within the company and supply chain.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Engineering, Science or Procurement, or Manufacturing-related required

  • An MBA with emphasis in operations management, finance, or supply chain management is preferred

Required:

  • Deep expertise in Sourcing, Procurement, Supplier Management or related operations, supporting a manufacturing environment, preferable in pharmaceutical, industrial manufacturing or consumer goods industries.

  • A strong background in the pharmaceutical industry and associated best practices in manufacturing, supply chain management, and supplier / category management.

  • Knowledge of supply chain technologies, performance management and reporting, and operations management best practices.

  • Advanced capabilities in Sourcing & Supplier Strategies, Sourcing Methodology, Cost Optimization, Supplier Relationship Management, Negotiation Skills, Financial / Legal Aspects with Procurement, Supplier Diversity, and Supplier Risk Management.

  • Category sourcing expertise in both indirect & direct materials and supplier diversity management.

  • Experience in leading or supporting a business transformation.

  • Strengths in working beyond functional supplier management boundaries.

  • Six Sigma belt or alternative problem-solving tools highly preferred.
